| woke up this morning kids off to school, wife off to work finished up a few loose ends on the puter, got on the forum to catch up found a lot has went on in the week I haven't been on. all year long it seems as there is one misshap after another and to think this is a small forum, I was feeling for those that have had the accidents or lost loved ones. and to such stupid things as drunk driving , cell phones, or just prain stupidity. I then jumped on my scoot and headed to town pipes a rumbling thinking I should try to stay off the pipes around town before the s.o.b.s bring the crap to this town. and I did, then at about 35mph a cager shot out from the left across three lanes and infront of me I went back later and found 2 black marks about 40 ft long guessing meaning I had both locked up ( it was hell keeping it up but managed to do so altough I was about to lay it down.) and although fortunate I was pissed I got back in front of the cager and stopped him and although I came close to pissing my pants I believe he ****ted his as I walked up to his window, he looked like a scared rabbit as he took off, I got back on my bike and went on down toward the stealership and as I passed a gas stop a couple of other bikers that must of seen it had him cornered giving him the third degree. when I got to the stealership I noticed some red paint on my hyway pegs made me feel just that much more fortunate, walked around the dealrship for awhile till the adrinelin wore off. nomore laying off the pipes!!!!from now on you will know I'm in town. as I write this (venting) I can't help but think that if I had not read the forum this morning would I have been as alert? lord will only know. |

| Glad you dodged a cager bullet. Riding a bike around Las Vegas has sure made me much much more aware of my surroundings while driving my truck also. Calming down before getting back out on the road's a good idea. |

| Glad you're OK. I had a close call yesterday too. Some guy couldn't wait for the green arrow and had to make the left turn without making sure both lanes were clear. I grabbed both brakes and managed to miss him and keep from locking them up - big surprise. Nice adrenaline rush though. I'm glad I didn't have to stop soon after that because I don't know if my knees would have held me up. |

| Same here. It seems that you ride like a scared cat around here, constantly looking right left right, it almost takes the fun out of it. No close ones for me lately (knocking on wood!), although I did have a cager riding my a** last night on the way home from school. He seemed to like the lane behind me no matter which one I tried to use. friggin idiots.....Glad you're Ok Ironhorse. |

| Hey VooDoo, when we lived in Phoenix the OL would carry some marbles in her cut off pocket. When they get to tailgating drop a few marbles and watch them back off. Of course in Az. it is perfectly legal to carry a handgun unconcealed also. I always carried my .45 cross draw so they would be sure to see it. AL |

| Maybe so Reese, but WTF. Take a look and back off ya know?! I have thought about nuts, bolts, marbles, some porcelain off of an old spark plug, (i hear that does wonders), or other items but I can get in enough trouble without that. Knowing my luck I'd drop that stuff and the bast*rd would run me down. Now, the handgun sounds like a dandy idea.......cept I'd be REALLY tempted to empty a clip or two and then I'd be in jail. Oh well, defensive driving and anger management will have to do! |

| A few days ago I was goin home from my local Harley-Davidson store & some a-hole cager was trying to turn left from an area that was double yellow lined....not really supposed to do that. well everybody in front of me decided to stop & watch this a-hole cheat death, & I nearly laid it down in the street & stopped about 3 inches from the car in front of me...scared the livin sh*t out of myself in the process. Only the second time thats ever happened to me & came out unscathed both times. People always say motorcycles are dangerous. I think its the other a-holes causin us to get into accidents & not the other way around. |

| All we have going for us is speed and mobility but I know I've been able to power around potential accidents that I would not have avoided if I was in a cage.

| I moved to the Houston area from California and it seems like people here take pride in speeding and talking on the cell and cutting across multiple lanes of traffic with out a look over not to mention a signal. I carry a pistol EVERY WHERE and I have been tempted to flash it but this fatboy would not do good in jail. I do like the marble thing and I will try it while riding on Houstonian idea of NASCAR AKA the Beltway/Loop/ Gulf/ East Tex, etc Freeways. To all my fellow riders keep your head on a swivel and dont let the feeling of freedom you get while riding take your head out of the game.
Stay out of the blind spot and keep the rubber on the road. |

| I had one today. I'd just left the DMV where I was teaching and stopped to get gas. I had to get out at a light, which wasn't turning for me. I was waiting for a while and finally a car came up behind me and the light finally turned. It was a busy spot - no way I could have run it. I was turning left and had an arrow to do so. A woman across the intersection, who was turning right, looked up to her right and went. Didn't bother to look and see if anyone had the signal from the other direction. I honked at her. She looked at me - and kept going! I was trying to get in the right lane, but she was there, so I gunned it past her, giving her the evil eye, and got in front of her. When I got to the next light she was still behind me. I was planning on backing up next to her window to ask her what kind of person she was. She stayed about three car lengths back, with nobody in between. I just looked at her and shouted, "I honked my horn, you looked, and you still kept on going!" I could see her running her mouth with her boyfriend in the passenger seat leaning as far away from her as he could and looking out the window. I'd like to kick her door in.
I was never in danger of getting hurt because I was paying attention. I just can't believe that she looked right at me and just kept going. It's one thing when they "don't see you," but this was not the case. |

| Well, HOT01, ya know with cagers that "lookin' ain't seein'" - sometimes they make me think of frickin' zombies from some old movie. When I was an engineer with the fire department I had a bozo ram right into my FMC pumper with my lights & sirens going because he "didn't see me". I remember seeing his eyes lock on us, but it was a vacant, zombie stare - saw, but didn't see.
Glad you're OK, and maybe the twit will be more careful next time. |

| Nearly got killed last night by a cop. Coming into an intersection I heard a siren but didn't know where it was coming from also knew there was no way I could stop. As I continued on, a cop blew right past me in front of me. Missed me by inches. Found out by a cop who works with me he should have stopped. If we collided I would have been dead and he would have been in the wrong...
