| Narry a single day goes by in Phoenx without a "motorcycle involved" traffic accident. There aren't enough facts from this article (BELOW) to jump to any conclusions, but I find it scarry that trucks from Mexico may now drive wherever they want in the U.S. They don't have to stop within the old "trade zone" to offload and have American drivers deliver to points north. Not only are they taking jobs from my American neighbors, but I'm curious what they will do if involved in an accident!??
Most "unducumented workers" a.k.a. ILLEGAL ALIENS (that's like calling a drug dealer an unlicensed pharmacist), have no registration, license, or insurance. My uninsured and underinsured premiums for my bike exceed my own liability and collision! just some food for thought.

Motorcyclist killed, big-rig driver sought
Jim Walsh

Police are looking for the driver of a tractor-trailer who was involved Saturday night in a collision on State Route 143 that cost a Phoenix motorcyclist his life.
The motorcyclist, Emory P. Harvey, 37, died at about 11 p.m. at a Phoenix hospital from injuries he suffered when he was thrown off his bike, according to the state Department of Public Safety.
The collision occurred shortly before 8 p.m. near the northbound off-ramp for Washington Street, said Harold Sanders, a DPS spokesman. He said it was unclear if the motorcyclist struck the truck or the truck struck the motorcyclist.
Sanders said the truck did not stop immediately, but may have stopped further up the road before continuing to head north. Witnesses reported that Harvey was traveling in and out of traffic and may have been exceeding the speed limit prior to the collision.
It was unclear to investigators if the truck driver realized that he had struck the motorcycle. Anyone with information about the truck is asked to call the DPS at (602) 223-2212. |

| I wonder why the Union drivers aren't up in arms about this. Shouldn't they have some say regarding this type of government nonsense? (course the name of the union is slipping me right now) I don't know if the union would have anything to say, would they, now that I think about it? This is one instance where a union could really lend a hand with LOTS of members. Ahhhh, the Teamsters, that's who I was thinking of! Whaddy'all think? Could they help?
As far as the biker.....that does suck, big time. Hopefully he wasn't riding like an a**, although that wouldn't make this any less of a tragedy........
You really gotta be careful around those 18 wheelers, they can't see us little bikes around them, and they sure can't maneuver like us neither.

As I said, not enough facts from the story to make a conclusion, but the story brought to mind my complaint about foreigners now taking truckers jobs. You're correct too Voodo. Where are the teamsters? |

| Sorry to say the teamsters realy have nothing to say in the matter , clinton started all the mess & handed it over to Bush , there was a big uproar before Bush came into office , then the dust settled & now is bad again
At one time about 8-10 years back there where people at all major truck stops with petition's for all drivers to sigh on this matter i sighned a few across this country to try & stop all this crap It don't matter to me where people come from as long as they abide by our laws & speak american when in MY County |

| I was on the bike the other day with my daughter & I got a bug up my a$$ & decided to point out all the people on cell phones as we went along...It was then I decided I was gonna get a shirt made for when I ride that says "get off the phone & drive!" on the back. Too many cagers out there either dont notice us or just arent paying attention....& Im pretty sure all these GPS turn by turn driving direction contraptions on peoples dash boards arent making them pay any more attention than usual either. I mean crap, dont these people know that rand mc nally made a whole business out of printing MAPS ?? |

| not to rain on your ride dutch but if they don't notice your bike or just don't care you're there, do you think they will read your shirt? Sorry to say a 2X4 to the temple wouldn't get alot of folks attention.
I have to agree with the TomTom crap. Anything that is put in a cage beyond requirements of the drive is a distraction, to include passengers. How many times have you seen people turned around harping at the anklebiter in the backseat and not paying attention to where they were going, instead of pulling over butsting Jr's arse and getting back on their way? People drive way too much and become comfortable, unlike bikes when they become cofortable they run someone else over or into something and don't normally get killed anymore thanks to all the new keep the idiot alive devices built in the tin can cages. Our world does all it can to keep the stupid alive, instead of allowing nature to follow course and thin the gene pool. |

| I remember actually watching someone reading while going down the road. Not sure if it was a personal book or something for work, but that was one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. Too bad survival of the fittest doesn't work anymore...

| Stupidity is rampant these days with drivers. My wife and I came up to a very busy intersection yesterday while she was taking me to the hospital (another story) and the light turned red before we got to the intersection so my wife who is driving stops like your suppose to. To our left came a young moron guy in a Mustang and starts to slow down for the light but then decides because the other traffic had not started to proceed yet with the other lanes he speeds up and purposely runs the red light. There is way to much impatience these day with drivers.
A month or so ago a women was driving down the free way and I noticed she would be looking down at the steering wheel then look up and then back and forth. The fu&*ing women had a book laid in the steering wheel opened up and was reading and driving at the same time.
It just seems to me that so many drivers simply don't care anymore and their just going to do what they want regardless of the outcome. |

| When ever they have that cell up to there ear just figure that they dont see you and they are comming at you and get out of their way. There is not a law against talking on a cell while driving I think it distracted driving. I have read about studies and thay proved you are as impaired while using a cell as being under the influence of alchol or drugs. I am not one for the govt to start making new laws but maybe it should be no cell while driving PERIOD even those stupid cockroaches in the ear. how can you carry on conversation while driving and still pay complete attention to what is going on around you. I hope this dick head gets whats coming to him and shame on him for for putting spin on it and making some lame excuse through his lawyer All that officer was doing was his job and deserves justice for his family and other officers |

That was one of the dumbest things I ever saw! He did finally pull over but he too was sort of wobbling, not shifting, using no signals, yada yada until he finally pulled over. He looked to me like one of those yuppie with too much money types since he was on a store bought, million dollar, multi colored chopper thing. |
