| "In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
Theodore Roosevelt 1907

The difference was back then they didn't offer handouts to the lazy, now they do. Our immigrant relatives were anything but lazy! They came here looking for a better life, not a handout.... |

| Politically correct or not, IMHO, that statement made good sense 100 yrs ago and it still makes good sense today. I have no problem with anyone migrating to the US legally, but I have a problem with anyone who comes here illegally & then starts making noise about having the same rights as legal citizens. |

| Sometime back the south of the boarder people stagged a protest here in Portland about immigration. I stopped at a Windy's restaurant to go through the drive through. All I wanted was a diet Coke and was told they were closed because all the help was at the protest. My comment to the manager was you should fire them all and she said but I can't find anyone else to take their place otherwise we would. There lies a part of the problem. |

| Unfortunately FLHT, she's right and it's our fault as parents. Our teenagers today are so f'ing lazy they think a job at 18 is $200K per year and you sit in an office and do nothing. I have been working since I was 12, started out doing maintenance on a lady's house, you know, cleaning gutters, cutting grass, moving stuff around the house for her, etc., and been doing it ever since. Every kid today thinks the world owes them something for being here.
End of rant... |

| I teach a 3 whole classrooms full of that attitude. And the thought that hits me first is, "if that is our future, we're F%^$Ed..." Something happens to them later on in life and they do finally get it. If they don't they'll end up in prison... At least that's my experience... |

| I agree that its the fault of many parents today. When my kids were growing up they picked beans, strawberry's and what ever. My daughter worked at Dairy Queen while my son worked at a pizza place and they both went to college and are doing fine. But the ones today simply scare the He7l out of me with their shi! head attitudes. We have so many south of the border legals and illegals that there are gangs in all the small towns and larger cities with shootings, robberies and rape and 90% of it is involving them. I simply turn the news off at night anymore, just sick of hearing about it. We simply don't need them ruining our country and they need to leave.
When I was in South Dakota you didn't see any of them driving hay trucks, working in fast food or anyplace. We went to a Perkins restaurant (good restaurant chain) in Spearfish a couple of times (love that little town to) and all the young people that were helping out were high school girls and boys gee what a nice change that was. They were polite nice and were just a lot of fun kids. I asked one of the locals about it and he said nope and we don't want them moving in here either. I hope that part of the country never changes. You get over in Eastern Oregon in the cattle country you see dang few of them there to. We're sick of em here.
Here is something else that is not right either. My ex-wife was a school teacher and each year she had to move out of her class room so that the children of the illegals from Mexico could come to school to be taught using our tax dollars.
Now I hear Hillery C. agrees with the Governor of New York that all illegals should get a drivers license. That is crazy and she should be nailed to the carpet for that one.

| There is no chance that ol' Hillary is going win the presidency. Even my wife is against her. What scared the Dookie outta me was the bumper sticker I saw yesterday... "Obama in '08..." There is no way a muslim will run this country either. I'm seriously considering McCain, Giuliani, and I forget who else... My age is catching up to me... |

| If anyone were to take the time to read the real history, not the brainwash crap of the indoctrination institutions, they would see that 99% of the "Great American Leaders and Founders" were not what one could call Politically Correct. Unfortunately, the Globalist have made their way into our country and into our Gov. As Metalica would say SAD BUT TRUE.

| Don't take Hillary too lightly. I think I will move to Costa Rica if she wins but the Clintons aren't used to losing. They will do anything to win. She has waited a long time for this shot and I'm afraid she might pull it off. Of course, I would feel a lot better if we had a star on the Republican side. None of them really give me a lot of confidence they can win but I will vote for any of them before any liberal democrat. God help us.

33 Senators Voted Against English as America 's Official Language June 6, 2007
On Wed, 6 June 2007 23:35:23 -0500, "Colonel Harry Riley USA ret" wrote:
Senators,
Your vote against an amendment to the Immigration Bill 1348, to make English America's official language is astounding. On D-Day no less when we honor those that sacrificed in order to secure the bedrock character and principles of America . I can only surmise your vote reflects a loyalty to illegal aliens.
I don't much care where you come from, what your religion is, whether you're black, white or some other color, male or female, democrat, republican or independent, but I do care when you're a United States Senator, representing citizens of America and vote against English as the official language of the United States
Your vote reflects betrayal, political surrender, violates your pledge of allegiance, dishonors historical principle, rejects patriotism, borders on traitorous action and, in my opinion, makes you unfit to serve as a United States Senator... impeachment, recall, or other appropriate action is warranted.
Worse, 4 of you voting against English as America 's official language are presidential candidates: Senator Biden, Senator Clinton, Senator Dodd, and Senator Obama.
Those 4 Senators vying to lead America but won't, or don't have the courage, to cast a vote in favor of English as America's official language when 91% of American citizens want English officially designated as our language.
This is the second time in the last several months this list of Senators have disgraced themselves as political hacks... unworthy as Senators and certainly unqualified to serve as President of the United States.
If America is as angry as I am, you will realize a back-lash so stunning it will literally rock you out of your panties... and preferably, totally out of the United States Senate.
The entire immigration bill is a farce... your action only confirms this really isn't about America ; it's about self-serving politics... despicable at best.
Never argue with an idiot; they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience." ~ anonymous
