| There was a piece on the nightly news the other day about Canada accepting illegals without much question..mostly eastern Canada. They're not only accepted, but getting stipends for food, etc., for 6 months so they can get their feet on the ground and a job. Seems the influx north is quite something. I gather many leaving AZ are heading there. It's just a matter of time before your average Canadian citizen starts getting riled up and pushing the government to change their practices. I don't see this working as easy in western Canada as they're much more conservative out west.
Hey Bob..you hearing/reading anything about this? Thoughts? |

| I think there are other people more deserving of that chunk of lead than the illeagles, I don't blame them for leaving the most corrupt country on the planet where they have no oppertunity or hope to come here, the people who deserve that chunk of lead are the ones born here and elected to office that allow them to get away with it. When the founders set up our government the federal government only had two jobs, protect the borders and mint money. Now they do neither. I applaud states like Az. and OK. even though it will probably mean the ones there wind up in Tx. AL |

Hey Bob..you hearing/reading anything about this? Thoughts? | Good, let Canada deal with their bullsh*t! When they start sucking Canada's economy dry, they'll see what we're getting tired of. The illegals take take take, but give nothing back.
BTW Afnurse, I have hundreds of 22L that I could spare.......(for the illegals and the politicians, whichever you want to use them on!) |

| This whole thing with the illegals is our own fault and nobody else's. We let them in and simply ignored the problem for way to long. Now that it has gotten out of control we now want to do something about it. I agree we need to get rid of them but make no mistake we are to blame for allowing it to happen.
This country at the Fed level better get some tougher laws out their for the businesses that hire the illegals otherwise why would they come here, surely not to sit on a street corner and beg for money.
Gee, do you realize that the fast food joints like the Burger Kings and others would have to shut down, no workers. Maybe then the kids here would loose some weight. |

| But that's just IT...we don't NEED tougher laws. We just need to implement and enforce the ones we have on the books. Period.
As for enforcement of the borders...well, the minutemen in Texas are garnering more and more support, and as long as they do it legally, I think they'll get things going really good to stop the influx. First thing about stopping a flood is to do that...stop it. THEN you can worry about pumping out the excess, yanno?
Hang in there, boys...we'll see this through. IF you're not the patient type, head for the border...just don't plan on a shooting spree unless you see coyotes or drug smugglers...or arabs for that matter down there.... |

Hey Bob..you hearing/reading anything about this? Thoughts? | I'm going to have to look into this somewhat. Kevin could you forward me a link on this? I know we have a bit of a problem here in regards to skilled labour/professionals/etc pretty much all over. I know that some businesses have "imported" labour from outside sources to ease the crunch. I'm not a big proponent of imported labour but I'm also not into buying "offshore product" either. Historically speaking, Canada has been somewhat easy on entrance rquirements compared to other countries. My understanding was that the monies were made available to legitimate immigration candidates or refugees who cannot go home. our problem is that there are more jobs than people..and it's going to get worse. The next year or so is going to be very interesting here. Our dollar is over valued, we've had a red hot economy but the American economy's slow down will, in good time, catch up to us. I really hope the Mortgage mess gets cleared up, for a lot of people's sake.
As far as the illegals gaining employment goes there is some irony involved. Conservatives believe in less government/market economies/less social programs/more difficulties for organized labour...thus creating a good environment for "creative enterpreneurs" to "grow" Which did happen. now to fix the problem, some sort of "control" has to be introduced..and control smacks of liberalism.....in the eye of the "enterpreneur"

| come to the horse farms and tobacco farms in KY if ya wannna see illegals. Only place so far that ya won't see 'em is in the coal mines. Possibly cause bad things can happen in a cold dark mine . I understand the need from an economical stand point because whites and blacks around here figure it's easier to wait on a gov't check than to work. I like the ol' Haggard song Workin Man Blues. Those who have heard know what I'm talkin' about. Here's to hard working Americans |

How does this happen? | How it happens is the lobbyists for the people who hire the illegals own the politicians. It ain't likely to get better either, at least not on a federal level. The two candidates who were the most strongly against illegal immigration (Duncan Hunter and Tom Tancredo) won't be on the ballet so it is up to the states to follow the lead of AZ and OK, even if it means getting federal funding cut off. So far we have 2 states out of fifty with , I don't know, maybe a dozen sanctuary states and who knows how many that are willing to look the other way rather than enforce the law. You have to wonder how much longer we will keep our sovereignty. Al l |

How does this happen? | Unless I'm reading this wrong I'm not sure I agree the 200M number. The total population of the US is about 310 million. That would mean that 65% of the population of the US are illegal's. |

| Er, you mean 65% of the KNOWN population of the nation......
Actually, I am more and more encouraged. I, like Chuck, hope this is the beginning of a trend to that effect. Not against immigration...just do it the RIGHT way, BEFORE people with guns start getting stupid. I mean, overzealous.....
I still say that I would move to AZ just because of this, if I can have some assurance that the folks in my neck of the woods is supposed to be there, yanno? |

Go to fair.com. I'm one of almost 700,000 memebers that are sending emails and calling our representatives regarding the immigration problem in this country. We had a big impact on stopping the amnesty bill from going through. There are local chapters in just about every state. I say send them all back!! |

| Quite a few people "in the know" predicted that fast food joints would go under, yards wouldn't get mowed, ditches wouldn't get dug...you get the picture.
Toward the end of December, a few things were noticable. Bob's landscaping supply (largest in Tucson) needed new yard hands because some "disappeared"...The positions were filled soon enough. My next door neighbors brother in law owns a landscape company / concrete, forms etc. He lost a couple of supposedly legit workers. Hired new employees right away (that's how I knew about Bob's).
Interestingly, you can actually place orders at Macdonalds, Burger King and a local Mex food joint named Nico's without a translator now and none shut down!
The cool thing is that AZ has not even started the records checking and the illegals are leaving in droves!!!!
So, if you are an illegal....
Bout frigging time. |
