Every summer we have 3or 4 Mexicans working at my place of employment. They get free food housing cut into the Americans hours including mine. This year they may not come due to regulations. That means the Americans will get more overtime. They bring nothing into our economy except the expense of the plane ticket home. They send all their money to Mexico. Scabs. When they have the balls to try to take a teamsters job just maybe my position on their being here will change. fireitup

i doubt that will happen.......the teamsters would probably be the only org to get rid of them.

Don't be too sure about that, guess who the union brass encourage the members to vote for.
They are already letting them drive over from Mexico and they don't even have to do things that our truck drivers would go to jail for, like keeping log books for example. The Canadians come over the border but they play by the same rules we do. AL

A big part of the problem was that organized labour failed in it's attempt to raise the standard of living of the workers outside the US and Canada. Education and political awareness is expensive and for the average union member at the meeting at the hall was a non issue 25-30 years ago. Organized Labour looked inward for the short term and we all watched the "jobs" get exported. I don't have a lot of experience with the Teamsters in the US but I'd think that they wouldn't go with the Republicans as they're less into "social rights" than the Democrats are, the Republicans being more "market" driven. I don't envy you guys at all, you're in for a rough election campaign with lots of issues, we've got our own fish to fry up here, Afghanistan being one of them..we'll be at the polls as well fairly quickly I think.
