| Sorry if it seemed a pissing contest was in the works. Guess part of being older than dirt is I tend to put things out there, up front, cause hell, I may not be here to get around to it tomorrow.
Everyones entitled to thier opinions, just like they are entitled to reject what anyone else says. *shrugs* such is life. One of the greatest quotes I ever heard was from my buddy Jim Keating; "Never judge anothers ability, by your lack of it".
AFNurse, man you are as far from being a RUB, or whatever terms popular today. I know how many miles you rack up, <S>.
Pissing contests? Hell, I am too busy racking up miles and enjoying life.
Ride Free ya'all,
Bear |

| Thanks for the encouragement guys! I do know that I ride in all weather and put down as many miles as I can.... I own no trailer, but one of the things that makes me feel a little bit like a rub is the fact that I do little of my own work. That is something that I just don't have time to learn....or the space. Not the lack of desire, but everything has a price.....and I have to pay it to have others do the work. I also try to live by MY code.....and it seems to resemble that of the bikers code...but also just a good way of life! |

| AFN I don't think there is a RUB on this site as it would show intrest and desire to learn of a passion. I could pretty much say a RUB is all show and no go. |

| I think were all missing the point here... Its not about the labels its about the journey...we ride because its a part of who we are...it doesn't matter if its 10 or 10,000 miles its about the ride...Its truly about whats in your heart not whats under your butt or how long its been there or if its American or Japanese. The journey is what it is about, that time in the wind where you can explore who you truly are inside and be yourself, its where you can shed the front you may have to wear for all the others that may influence your life or career. We all have to do that to some extent and dont say that you dont. Life is much to short. Some of you will get this some of you might not... Yet! thats OK its all part of the journey!!!! |

| hddoc94565 - Totally, dude! Reminds me of my 72 year-old father that got back into riding last year after nearly 40 years out of the saddle. Some snobs might call him a RUB - he has just enough money to be rich to many, he lives in an urban (now, was cattle country when I grew up there) part of NorCal (and is that 94565 your zip code? If so, so do you), and he has a shiny bike that looks like it is probably too much for him. But even though he couldn't hold the friggin' thing up (leg froze up) and dropped it at a stop sign after his first 30 minute ride, if you saw the gleam in his eye you'd KNOW he was a BIKER! And then he did two 300 mile rides with me this past summer, so he proved the saddle still suited him.
Any of ya'll wanna believe in RUBs, fine. Heck, I know UFOs are real (as in Unidentified Flying Objects - won't EVEN pretend I know where they are from) and am pretty comfy that Bigfoot is more than just a campfire story. IMO, if a man or woman is on 2 wheels with motor-power, then they are fine with me! Still not crazy for them Speedo wearing bicyclists, though! |

What hddoc94565 said. It's not the number of miles..it's the journey short or long.
A RUB to me is some idiot wearing his/her brand new leather jacket outside when it's 100º..sweatin their ass off..trying to look cool. |
