| Cool idea, but I don't wear ball caps. I wear a beanie, so maybe make both? Will that work? Any color, don't matter to me. |

| ENOUGH OF THE GROUP HUGFEST ALREADY!!! YOU GUYS ALL SUCK ROCKS!
Just kidding. I have gotten a lot of useful information here and would like to meet some of you guys along the road someday.
Here's a novel idea. Since they have the interweb thingy on computer now, maybe people could post their pictures up if they're going to an event, like Sturgis or Daytona.
My work gave me this thing I wear on my hip called a CELL-U-LAR FONE. Pelple can talk on them from what I hear.
Sorry for the sarcasm. Not really. This is the 1st Saturday I've had off in 3 weeks and I'm up WAY earlier than I should be so I feel a little ornary.
Peace |

| Every board and page on the web has expenses. Some charge dues, some run ads, some sell things. I like the hat/beenie idea but what about having patches made up. If you order in bulk they are much less expensive. Idea being take up a pre-paid pre-order (@ a profit of course to cover extra patches) all this does is get the first ones out there and put back some stock. Then as the extras sell off order more from the money made on them. Same would work with hats/beenies I am sure.
However, a word of caution. The more we advertise to be known by members the more we advertise for members. It is extremely easy for a board to get out of hand when it takes in members faster than it can monitor them.
Another idea: I have seen tons of ads on Ebay for custom made patches, we could all have a BT patch made with our screen names on them. With this we could personalize them a bit too with join dates and such. |

| I only thought of the cap thing as a way for Bike Talkers to recognize each other in a crowd...wasn't really thinking we'd necessarily wear the things after contact. 'Course, white & red helium-filled ballons with Bike Talk Motorcycle Forum on 'em and tied to our ears would be easier to spot in a crowd, too.......
As to the patches, if you don't want to over-advertise I recommend a small one with just that stylized bike up top here on the forum banner, and the member screen or whatever name. If the patch doesn't say Bike Talk Motorcycle Forum itself it wouldn't advertise too much. Only observant members would know.
Just FYI: years ago when I led a Navy unit we needed to come up with patches and the first run of 'em was not cheap. I'm fuzzy on the details, but I think it was about $300 bucks for a start-up order of 50. But I just took a look at this here site - Embroidered patches, embroidered emblems and custom embroidered patches - not endorsing, just the first/best in a quick research. Wow, no set-up fee is nice, at least from what I experienced years ago...
Anyway - I think whatever profits (and there should be for this site - you shouldn't do it just to break even or worse) should be shared between Ken & the forum admins/operators and CD's fishing fund......but don't buy that new just yet! |

| HEY, WE SHOULD ALSO PAY MEMBERSHIP DUES ALSO. LIKE PREPAYING AT A RALLY, GET A PIN AND A SHIRT DOES ANY ONE ELSE SEE EVERYDAY SEEMS LIKE 2-3 PEOPLE JOIN. MORE KNOWLEDGE I SAY. MAYBE WE SHOULD E-MAIL HARLEY AND GET A TECH TO JOIN. I THINK I'M VERY THANKFULL THE SITE IS NOT COMERCIALIZED AND AIMED FOR PROFIT. I THINK I MIGHT NEED TO TAKE A ONLINE SPELLING CLASS. AHH, I GET IT CLOSE ENOUGH. AT LEAST THERE ISN'T A BUNCH OF TEENAGERS. A GOOD IDEA MIGHT BE IF WE COULD GET A CHAT BOARD, SO WE COULD TALK ONLINE RIGHT THEN, SO IN THOSE CASES WE MIGHT NEED TO GET INFO AND NOT HAVE TO WAIT ON REPLIES. DON'T KNOW HOW HARD THAT WOULD BE TO INSTALL ON THE SITE, BUT IT MIGHT BE WORTH ASKING ABOUT. I ELECT CHUCK TO ASK. ANY ONE SECOND THAT MOTION. |

It was determined at that time that due to computer power and server size that it was space that was better utilized some other way. It would also require a bit more monitoring and is probably just a bit more of a PIA then it is worth....not that it can not be re-visited if that is what people would want... (course, have to talk to Ken about that!). |

ANY ONE SECOND THAT MOTION. | I wasn't suggesting BT go commercial, I was giving past experience with such things. The first run of patches normally are not cheap. I don't think it fare to ask the site admin here to do it and I don't want to go the outlay to have them made and chance folks taking them or not, how about you? Wasn't about profit it was about covering the a$$. ahh f*** it. nevermind |

| I got hooked when you guys gave me ideas for the trip from Truckee to ABQ. I never would have chosen that route and it was that part that convinced me I needed to move out west. And Red let me change my oil at his place on the trip. Way cool. |

| When this all started CD had a banner made up. I think SK took it to Sturgis in '98. He had some Direct Parts hats and tees. I still got a tee or two someplace. I got to ride with CD, SK, FLhtbiker and got seriously schooled by Goose. We just picked a spot and met up. SK FLHTBiker Goose and myself have had a few good fun rides. Laughlin 98 was the first. I'm not big on the event itself but it was a great ride getting there. |

| Well all , if any of this comes about , A hat is the best way to go you don't have to wear it all the time , meet up with who ever & take it off , easy stash in S bag's or in your belt , as i know i'am not the only one who don't wear a vest to sew a patch on & I wont have a stick & stay on my forehead i'am also a short guy so you would'nt see a patch , A hat might help

I may only get in here a couple times a month but it is a comfy, humorous, and educational place.....Can we install a couple couches in hear somewhere with a fridge full of beer !!!!! Thanks to you all. !!! |
