[font="Arial Black"] I noticed words I wrote (dare I say them) were astericked over in a thread I submitted. May I say that forum rules "are opposed to anything that violates a persons personal freedoms." I guess when I came on here I came to China and the moderators and administrators are the emperers. So you talk a talk but you all don't walk the walk. Because you find certin speech offensive or disagreable doesn't mean you can oppress it. Supreme court, majority rule. Joey Johnson vs California. Men and women shed blood and died for our freedoms who the **** are you to decide what I can say? God, did I wake up in China? So before I bow out of here and become history I will say loud and clear to you all who are a part of this "LET FREEDOM RING." fireitup

I am quite sorry to hear that you are disapointed in our forum. The original founder of this board is Cyber Dave or CD.... He established that this would be a family oriented type of board. With the closing of Direct Parts, the Board has moved to be stand alone in that it isn't part of a store. It is maintained by those of us that are willing to keep the same family friendly type of morals. The program itself has been programed to do this. There are no moderators or administrators going behind every post to keep them "clean".
I PERSONALLY take offense at anything that sounds patriotic in your venting as I am currently in the active duty military (as are others on this board) and protect your right to disagree. In my disgust of your venting, I will let it occur as THAT is the right that I am sworn to uphold...the freedom of speech (not to be confused with being forced to read/hear foul petty wording by someone that things swearing and poor language skills makes them seem better). There are many others on this board that have proudly served in the same capacity. There are still others, that while not serving themselves, hold utmost respect and support for those of us that serve.
What this boils down to is this: You may either participate in knowlege exchange or kicking things around with the board as it has been established from its creation, or you may depart. The choice is yours.... Have a wonderful Air Force day!
Nurse
PS, if there was TRUE censorship going on, as moderator, I would have NUKED this post.....as it is, I will let everyone read it as they see fit.

what ya wrote to get asterisked... a four letter swear word perhaps?
When I go to work here in America I can get in trouble for swearing, playing my music to loud and as a matter of fact I got stuck on some rotten duties for expressing myself in a derogatory manner (especially in uniform)while in the USAF, so matter how free you are there are guidelines anywhere. I can cuss all I want at home and in my car but, even in a restuant they can deny you service and asked you and your buddies to leave and even have the cops show up to help ya understand the message.(trust me that is from experience too. So if ya think you can take 40 strippers and stand in front of your local church all day and telling everyone about your rights,ya might think about bail money.
Sharing your opinion and information in here about topics related to the site has been a privelege to me and not a right. Guess if I wanted to run my own site I could, but I FREELY choose to be here and play by the sites guidelines.
If censorship about an opinion of something here about bikes likes and dislikes has happend, it is news to me. I really don't think that the fellas running this place are gonna blockout an opinion about parts. So ya musta wrote out something unrelated and offensive according to the guidleines.

Private site, not a public forum. I'm sure you'll be able to find plenty of places out there where you can say whatever you want, if that's what's important to you.

fireitup - Sheesh, dude, lighten up! If swearing is so friggin' important to you, you might want to reexamine your priorities. It has always been clear that the word processing auto-censor on this site is more of an amusement than an obstacle. Otherwise, this here azzho1e would have never hung around!

Apparently he belongs to the group that feels " freedom of speech " means I can say whatever I want, whenever I, WHEREVER I want and if we don't accept it his " rights " are being violated....
I'm with ya AFN, I would take some offense to that nonsense.

I don't really give a rats arse whether you stay or go. But in my honest opinion, you are being pretty petty if you are really going to leave the forum because you can't be creative enough to find ways to express your opinions without using certain words or if you can't find a different way to spell sh!t.
If you had read the forum rules as requested when you signed up you would have already known what is accepted and not accepted and been able to make an informed decision as to whether this site is for you.
I have used some adult language on here to express a certain mood or convey a story accurately by using creative spelling and no one ever hammered me for it or edited my post. So you are incorrect about your right to freedom of speech being trampled on.
If that's all it takes for you to be offended enough to leave then don't let the door hit you in the arse on the way out. If you stay I'm sure you will learn a thing or three.

I think the software automatically cleans the wording up..and that's no ****. As far as the language content went, CD was pretty clear about what type of language was to be used. We kinda figured we were in Cd's house at the time so we complied. I've got a potty mouth when I'm in work mode but I don't broadcast over the radios at work and I don't splash it around here.
Fireitup, I don't think there's anyone here zapping your posts. You guys out east have had a crummy winter...hang in there Spring's coming. The astericks keep us haing a family or "G" rating. We have a pretty good idea of whst you're trying to say.stars and all.
Be cool.

Forget the niceties, apparently you read the rules to find your little quote, therefore you should have seen the rest of them as well. With Freedom comes responsibility, I have a foul mouth but I also know when to turn it on and off.
You must have missed the biker rule of
Don't Whine. Absolutely no one likes or respects a whiner. Another way to say this is hold your mud. Still another way to think of it is, "Don't sweat the small stuff" Most of life's little inconveniences work themselves out whether you whine or not. Keep your chin up, dammit! You're a biker, not some lowly snail..
All I say is don't let the screen door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya.

I think you may be confusing your personal freedoms with the rules that keep an online forum peaceful and friendly. This forum has never told anyone what they can or can't say. You want to call me ******* and to go **** my mother? GO FOR IT! But you'll need to go scream it in some else's house. Free speech doesn't mean anyone has a right to have it broadcast on someone else's dime, but if you want to start your own website then freedom of speech will certainly give you that right. Our constitution does not afford protections to say anything you want on this or many other forums. Freedom of speech (1st amendment) states that your government may not suppress your speech. However this board is not run by a government, but rather individuals who have the right to make rules for these communities as they see fit. Nor is any government telling anyone here what they can or can't say. You want to call me or others an Emperor, you are certainly welcome to do so. However just like a bartender with a baseball bat hanging behind him, I (and the other mods) will always have the right to say "Enough" and show people the door if they can't act in a civil manner.
The system has been designed to automatically filter out predetermined words to keep this a peaceful place. CD established much of what is on that filter list when the forum was under Direct Parts and since then I've added a few myself in keeping with a peaceful family friendly forum.
To quote our forum rules - "Membership here is a privilege and not a right. Bike Talk reserves the right to remove, edit, censor, or alter any content not considered appropriate for it's community." and... "Bike Talk is made up of a diverse community of bikers and motorcycle enthusiasts from around the world. It is our goal to provide an inviting and friendly environment for everyone to enjoy."
I love freedom and most here would stand up to protect your freedoms, but that doesn't mean I have to print every vulgarity someone types in a forum post. You are free to say whatever you like, but this forum is not bound by the constitution to rebroadcast it.
Those who do not agree will not be oppressed in any way. They are welcome to go find another forum that allows every one of their words to be printed exactly as typed and nobody here will stop you. THAT is Freedom.
Sincerely,
Emperor Ken

Sorry Ken you didn't pay much attention to fireitup. He didn't call you guys an Emperor, he called you Emperer, been looking to find out what kind of a slur that is but can't find it in any of my dictionaries.

If I went and corrected everyone's spelling and grammar, wouldn't that be censorship???
Actually I'm paying more attention than people think, since I happen to know that "He" is really a "She".

Seems like you may be overreacting a little, Fireitup. I too try to stand on principle but I also try to follow the rules. I don't have any idea what word you may have used that was deleted but I'm sure it was a result of the built-in filters and not because one of our moderators was offended or wanted to suppress your rights. I appreciate the rules we have here because they allow folks from many different backgrounds share thoughts, ideas and information without stepping on each other's toes too much.
I don't know what would offend you or anyone else here but common sense tells me that I should not go over the top with my language or criticism of others. I hope you rethink your decision to drop out and hang around. You'll learn something, get a laugh or maybe get pi$$ed but I feel sure you'll be better off for the experience.
