Knock you clear into next week !! I can get it to bend just a little bit, but nothing like he could - and if you don't have a good grip on the nail .....

I brought up that question at a HD shop one time and there answer was: If it was made in the USA then the quality wouldn't be as good. That really made the blood boil and the items I had in my hand to buy went back on the rack. I also then said to the guy then why doesn't HD build their bikes in China if the American labor is so crappy and then I walked out.

I use nothing but the K&N filter with a 3/4" nut on the end. Easy to get off. As far as the oil running all over I took one of those thin plastic garage sale signs and cut it up to form a trough that fits under the filter and drains the oil into a drip pan. With that and a K&N filter no drips on the bike or the floor.

it ain't the scars that bug me (cause chicks dig scars ) or a song to that effect, but after 20+ yrs of wrenching and burning rod, ya get up in the morninigs and the first thing you do is get the knucles and neck bones flexing again. heck my wife probably has more scars on her fingers from knives, (and of course helping adjust large car clutches and brakes) than i do, but i didn't just marry the hands

I use the K&N filters on my bikes too. Not only are they easy to get on and off but they absolutely filter better than anything out there. I forget what magazine I saw the article maybe American Iron Horse or Hot Bike but they had all the filters in their test Harley, CC etc; and the K&N was way out in front. I like the garage sign funnel Idea I generally just use the empty box as a funnel. AL

I buy my filters from Harley. They have the sort of octagon shape to them on the end that allows you to use the big oil filter socket like Chucktx mentioned. I never have an issue. I used to use the Custom Chrome ones but those were round and not as easy to get off. I have also used the ones that have the same hole for the 3/8" extension but has three fingers that grab the side of the filter tighter and tighter as you put more pressure on it. They work well too.

As far as finding all those nicks and cuts...........I was removing a gas tank, among other things, from my truck. My tank has a drain plug in it so I decided to drain the gas out instead of trying to remove a tank full of fuel. Well inevitably, the gas ran all the way down my arm and off my elbow. Of course the day before I had been cutting down thorn bushes and brush in my yard. I realized pretty damned fast just how many scratches I had on my arm. It felt more like my arm was one big scratch.

Those gloves are a good idea too. I get them from work so I have several pairs.

I managed to get a little scratch on the arm...man was that filter tight!! Okay, it might have involved a chain saw.....I wonder if a strap wrench would take down a tree, it's gotta be safer than the way I did it.
