this is for afnurse or some other military minded, I will set the stage a little, my son was headed to work and i was ridin drag as i was to turn off early and head to boise, approched the on ramp to the interstate from a cross rode, (we were on the interstate) speed was 60 65, traffic heavy and a small p/u came barreling down the ramp out into traffic, squeezing my son between the vehical on his left and the azzhole ( he did good) backed it off so he was clear, I in my infanat wisdom and very short temper, and quick observance, figured his window was down and i ought to have a conversation with this dildobrain, so i took the lead and moved over to discusse the situation, i (seriously) calmly told him his california driving was a discrase and he didn't look but gave me the bird .....ok that was the part where the line between right and wrong got a little blurry. anyway the question if this man was in uniform and on his way to work should i have just followed him to the gate and reported his attitude and driving or would that have done any good

i would have talked to the guard at the gate........if in fact he was in the military. the army/navy stores are full of clothes that bear the patches, ect of our military. did the truck have military passes on it????? i would have followed him for a bit, if there was a base nearby.................

ironhorse -
If you'd have followed him to the gate and taken the time to register your complaint, he would have likely got an azz chewing at the least, maybe a tie-breaker-mark-down that cost him a promotion, or even an Article 15 if you formalized your complaint. It is pretty easy for civilians to mess with military - deserving or not - in today's PC forces.
But what you don't know is pretty big to me. Did he just get notice that that third tour in combat was coming six months sooner than he thought? Did he find out that his ol' lady was keeping company with someone else while he was away hunting bad guys? Did his combat buddy from boot camp just come home without legs? Was this just a bad day that you'd make into a real mess that civilians wouldn't give a crap about but the service might go overboard for?
There are more pressures in the service than in civilian life, otherwise every son-of-a-biscuit-eater would serve, and especially now. I'm for cutting them some slack.
Our Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen today are still only drawn from society at large. We aren't bred to be Superman or saints, but too often expected to be. So no one comes in without a little baggage, but they have volunteered for duty that others cringe at. I'm for cutting them some slack in the minor stuff. Not a free pass on everything, but just a little understanding and extra patience. If the guy is a true loser, the service will find out and dump him. But when I led men and women, I always presumed the best and dealt with them as if they at least regret their mistakes. It takes honor to get that uniform on...some just need reminders.
But if you see him being a jerk again, go to the gate. Once is a failure to recognize the situation - the second time is a failure of required discipline. And that could cost other good folk.

chuck he was af and that in its self is slack for bearing the uniform
red i did cut him some slack as you state you don't know the reasoning for stupidity but the question is general, as i could have exited with him at the gate (of course that meant implicating myself in the wrong doing ) but my figures are probably pretty accurate in the fact he will pay more attention now but the negligance has no reason whether it be civilan or military just because some one has a bad day doesn't mean he can indanger the life of the inoccent i am just glad my son was on his game .

that he might have had bad day , found his tour is up, buddy blown away, just got back and found his ol lady ride the ups man just a general respect to the uniform comment, and although he was a ***** and sorry you can put any uniform on a person, any badge, label, or clasifacation, it won't hide the ***** wearing it, that is no reason to endanger another life and then be so who gives a fcuk about it, if he would have just motioned a oops or sorry then no harm no foul watch out next time,. he could have been a friggin full bird or a zoomie respect for his uniform restrained me the first time, if i catch him doing it again he shall find out just how bad a day he can have, and it wouldn't have a dang thing to do with the uniform. so no offense cd and others I have plenty of family and friends active and retired, in all branches if i were to bash anyone for a uniform then i would be bashing them.
