Ok out here where I live,(no helmet law for experienced) everytime you read an article or watch a news report of a motorcycle accident it always ends with."he/she or They were not wearing a helmet." It is even in the article where I was blasted by a 90 year woman pulling out through an intersection that resulted in the death of my passenger and me broken to bits and told I'd never walk again...how the did the local paper write it...."they were not wearing helmets." It comes off to me as Someone hit a motorcyclist but hey, so what, they were not wearing a helmet.Like we had it coming or somtething. Almost made me the other day wanna call the news station and ask if the driver of the car that hit the bike the other day was wearing their helmet.. or maybe the guy that served french fries at mcdonalds fell out the drive thru window was not wearing his helmet. Dang condecending Liberal media.... Broght to us by the same jerks that automatically think I want Lemon slices in my Iced tea when I order. don't know what Pompous ding-uhling started that crap but I have been on a cruasade to end that here.

That irritates me to no end as well. Everyone asked me if I was wearing a helmet when I got rear-ended. No, but I didn't hit my head either, so why are you asking? I've decided to wear a helmet now, but the question will still piss me off to no end.

I work for a large ski resort company. We lost a record number of skiers/riders this year and it's the same exact thing. A guy in a half pipe lands on his head and breaks his neck and they mention he was wearing a helmet. Why? It didn't save him. It didn't change anything. The one that really upset me was the article about that guy mentioned that an 11 year old was killed the week before. He was wearing a helmet, but it wasn't up to standards. So I guess it was the parents' fault their child died. Never mind that the kid died from a torn aorta, which resulted from a chest injury.

About a month ago we had a lady pull out in front of a guy who wound up t-bonin her with his oldwing...He was wearing a helmet...last I heard he was still in intensive...If he dies it aint gonna be from a head injury...its gonna be from the massive chest trauma he went through. Im still convinced that helmets only mean youre gonna have an open casket funeral.

In some instances a helmet helps (as it did mine last mine in last summer's get-off..you should see the scrapes on the helmet), and sometimes it doesn't matter. I believe in the right to choose, and I choose to wear one, but the media does harp on the helmet issue whether it made a difference or not in the accident. Seems like there's a motorcyclist death every week in Las Vegas..which keeps me on my toes more and more every day. I'll wear a helmet just to increase my odds when the inevitable just seems to happen.

I wore seat belts long before they were required by law and they have come in handy more than once. I believe you should have the right to choose but for me, I'll wear a helmet.
