Ok I know I'am A old truck driver who likes light's but yesterday I took my truckover to pick up a big saw , with my bro-in-law got behind a h D on the back hwy he started to stop at a local watering hole & we could barely see his tail light , I'am all for making your bike your's but A Tail/brake light so small it's hard to see , can get you hurt if not worst , here In TX they have a state inspstion (sp) so they have to pass , I know the beer joint he was turning into so I was ready for him to stop , but any joe blow could have ran him over cause he would not see his small light

My Lt. Has his bike set up so the brake lite flashes then is steady red...& I have my turn signals set up as running lights, so I have 3 lights in the back (with blue dots) I saw a guy the other day who had the same thing goin on... a very dim running light. Some guys are really into that "less is more" thing...Id rather not get rear ended...just my .02

since i first started riding, i have always felt you cant have too many lights on the back of your bike!!!!!! i have the stock tail/brake light....turnsignals are also brake/running light...i have a tourpac brake/running light...i have a 15led brake light under my tourpac....and for good measure, i have a set of three each blue led's aimed to the rear on either side of my rear fender. those are tucked in behind the bags so as not to be seen from the sides.....and my red lights all have blue dots......

Yeah ,dim running lights and tiny brake lights is just plain stupid IMO. When I touch my brake I want everyone behind me to know it. i have a bud that rides an Ultra, when he brakes the tourpac lights, signal lights and original brake light, light him up like a christmas tree.
I alway thought it was kinda dumb for motosickles to have 3 rear facing lights but only one lit up when you hit the brakes.

I have two iron cross led's on mine that are bright as hell, especially when I hit the brakes. Eventually I will change my turn signals to iron crosses as well, and they will act as brake lights too. The more lights that cover my a$$, the better.

I am all for bright lights on the bike. I put a triple light bar on the front of mine, partly cause I like the looks, and partly to make sure other drivers can see me coming. I am looking into the LED lights for the back, and have found a couple of web sites with various products. Does anyone have experience with these, such as which ones really do light well?
Thanks

You can also buy leds off of ebay or other websites and solder them together and make any tailight LED, you can usually do any tailight for about 20 dollars worth of materials, I started making one a couple of weeks ago and they are definetly brighter than any you can buy, the secret is to buy the brightest LEDs you can find and then use a bunch of them, I went with around 16 for tailight and 48 for brake, Todd

A Kuryakn Smoked taillight but the lit area is clear. The bulb is a Kuryakn brighter than all get out. It suppoed to be brighter further away(somehow) according to the sales rep) I understand that with the newer okice lights but I don't think it applies to this bulb.
It looks like a 1157/1156 bulb made out of aluminum Everyone who rides behind likes the contrast black to bright red. (my turns are smoked with yellow bulbs) that is the best/most contrast in nature..yep (more than black and white)
I think the red lens cover sometimes look like they are on but really aren't.
I did see something two weeks ago and ol' fella had on his ride. This fella's lights stayed on all the time. Red tailights. When he hit the brakes the center brake light came on and the turn/tail/brake lights(alreadt on) got brighter!!!!. I asked him about that because I have not seen that set up before at all.
I got the set to make my tailights turn into brakelights and still blink, but never put them on. At night the fella I ride with really throw some light and with that set and in the rain and bright sun EZ to see.
My one buddy runs those dinky lights I never see the signal since it is on the swing arm and the brake light well that little thing might as well be a candle..but it sure looks cool.

That's what I have since the wreck. My rear taillights are running lights, and when I hit the brakes, all three get brighter. I was told last night that it makes a big difference. The rear light is LED also. When it's not on, it's clear. YOu can see it in the pics. I had the amber/smoked turn signals, but when I wanted the rear signals to become running lights and brake lights, I had to go with the red lenses. It's OK, because I removed the front turn signals and got the ones in the back of the rearview mirrors, which act as running lights as well. All my stuff came out of the H-D catalog. I'm sure it could be done cheaper, but that's where all the insurance work was getting done - compliments of her insurance company.

Hey Hot01, you just have to watch the $$ on that site. Some stuff is reasonable and others are pricey. Like the iron cross turn signals I like, they're about $275 if I remember......
