There was a conference in France where a number of international engineers

were taking part, including French and American. During a break one of the

French engineers came back into the room saying 'Have you heard the latest

dumb stunt America has done? He has sent an aircraft carrier to Indonesia to

help the tsunami victims. What does he intended to do, bomb them?'

A Boeing engineer stood up and replied quietly: 'Our carriers have three

hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are nuclear

powered and can supply emergency electrical power to shore facilities; they

have three cafeterias with the capacity to feed 3,000 people three meals a

day, they can produce several thousand gallons of fresh water from sea

water each day, and they carry half a dozen helicopters for use in

transporting victims and injured to and from their flight deck.

We have eleven such ships; how many does France have?'

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A U.S. Navy Admiral was attending a naval conference that included Admirals
from the U.S. , English, Canadian, Australian and French Navies. At a
cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large group of
Officers that included personnel from most of those countries.
Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a
French admiral suddenly complained that, 'whereas Europeans learn many
languages, Americans learn only English.' He then asked, 'Why is it that we
always have to speak English in these conferences rather than speaking French?'
Without hesitating, the American Admiral replied 'Maybe it's because the
Brits, Canadians, Aussies and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't
have to speak German.'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

AND THIS STORY FITS RIGHT IN WITH THE ABOVE...

Robert Whiting, an elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane.

At French Customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry on.

'You have been to France before, monsieur?' the customs officer asked sarcastically.

Mr. Whiting admitted that he had been to France previously .

'Then you should know enough to have your passport ready.'

The American said,

'The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it.'

'Impossible. Americans always have to show your

passports on arrival in France !'

The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly

explained. 'Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in '44 to help liberate this country,

I couldn't find a single Frenchmen to show a passport to.'

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who has a distaste for the french....They have gotten better recently, but it aint enough. My wife hates it when we go to the store & they are giving out samples of stuff (sometimes wines from france) & I tell the poor schlub trying to sell the stuff that I wouldn't take it if they were giving it to me for free.

Thumbs up

There is something weird about them. One of my closest friends Dad is a proffessor/soil scientist (PHD) at the college I went to for my B.S. Anyway he was invited to France to speak and they were incredibly friendly until he went up to the podium. Then it went weird after that. They were rude, hackling him and spitting at him. He told them to "F-off" as nice as he could and never answered any of their calls again. The French hate us, prolly cause we had ta save their ass a second time. First time being W.W.I

You look back in history during the French and Indian Wars and the French were blood thirsty against the American settlers in what was then the west. They ordered their Indian allies and they participated in horrendous and hideous acts of violence to people. Don't like em and never have. I won't even trade a riding pin with one of them when their over here in our country.

I don't know a lot about France, I might get over there then again, I might not. From what I've heard, if you're from Quebec and you're trying to speak to them in "french" they can get a little snotty. My sister ran into that problem over there. She wasn't impressed. I've ran into some communication problems speaking "french" to a person from France when I lived in Quebec. He wasn't very impressed with my french and I told him that I was OK with that First off my mother tongue is english, secondly we don't speak french here, it's Acadien or Quebecois, the only time French is trotted out on this side of the Atlantic is when a lawyer writes up a document..and even then there's the local slant to it.
This past June my wife and I took an Alaskan cruise, it was cool, wet, and a lot of fun. We had assigned seating in the dining room and one couple at our table had an accent like they were from New Brunswick but slightly different. They didn't talk a lot and I aske them where they were from and it was from Louisiana and I asked then if they were cajun. We found out that their french was a whole lot different than mine but it was really neat learning about, and seeing first hand a displaced Acadien albeit some generations removed, I really enjoyed the time we spent with them. France can wait.

I did sugar coat it...said 5% were solid. I remember wheN they had the 50th anniv of D-Day and the Vets were going back over. french *****s (government ) said they didn't have room for them,they didn't make RESERVATIONS. Some of the citizens of unoccupied France said they would open their homes to them because THEY MADE THEIR RESERVATIONS 50YEARS AGO!!!!
