Hi Folks
The wife and I decided to take a ride up to Mt Lassen a couple of weeks ago. the trip started out not so good. We live down a 2 mile gravel road and my electra glide hates gravel with a passion. No sooner got out of the driveway and my mule decided to go down slipping on the loose pea gravel. It wasn't a bad drop but I guess I threw my elbow back and caught Patty right on the noise. I was sick about it. I helped her back to the house and just knew the trip was over. She sat in the house for about 10 minutes and came out with her helmet on and said I am ready. Well Lassen was a great ride. Got to see the sulfer pits with the bubbling mud and water. Smell was a little foul. Another HD showed up and he went down parking. But this fool was on dry pavement lol. I made a comment and the wife said you were the fool this mourning. Ouch! Ha ha. We road on to the sumit about 8,000 feet and pulled over to get the hat pin for our vests. I was happy for the break it was cold up there. The road is nice and curvey but speedlimit in the park is about 35 mph. Lots of places to stop and hike. We stopped at Helens lake and ate lunch and took some pics. Road on to the end and had coffee and walked down to reflection lake. Well this is getting long so i just want to say If you ever get close to Mt lassen it is well worth the ride threw the park pick up a brosure at the gate so you don't miss any sites. Whiskytown lake will be our next ride as soon as i fix the bike. Thats another story. no didn't wreak it LOL.

Great ride..it's pretty up there. Did you take hwy 299 up there? I've got relatives in Redding, so I've ridden around up there some. Wiskeytown's a neat area..as is the ride all the way to the coast from there..about 150 miles to Eureka of some fairly windy roads.

SK, did you make it to Reno for Street vibs this year. Tried to call on Friday but no answer. I'll have to tell you about my experiences in Reno with the Vagas bad boys and the wife buying a electric vibrating chair and wanting us to haul it home on the bike and little cargo trailer when I have more time. The chair came close to causing a divorce. well back to finishing up my home inspection report.

It was a great ride. SK
We took 44 and came back 299. We took a ride on 36 East out of red bluff. We didn't go all the way to the coast. The road was nice and curvey great scenery. We stopped in Platina and took a back road to Redding. Now that road was scary, Narrow blind curves with 5 mile an hour switchbacks and a shear drop to the valley below, probably would have been great on a sport bike but I would not recomend it for those on a touring bike.

hogheaven..too curvy a road?!!! Say it ain't so! I've backpacked into the Trinity Alps and it's just gorgeous up there.

Marc..I was in Reno on Friday from about 1-4pm as I stayed back in Virginia City to study while the rest of our gang headed for town. I didn't get a message and was hoping to hear from you up in VC. Oh well..glad you're still married.

What message was you hoping to hear from me LOL. Did i miss something? Virgina City. Patty and I love that town and we visit every chance we get. I wrote in another post about us getting married again in the courthouse of VC. We use to get a card in the mail from Atlantis hotel with cheap room rates but they stopped sending them, So sad. Before they close down the Pondarosa ranch we would stop there as well. We are not to hot on gambling anymore. The casinos are just to tight and It seems we run out of money very quick. not like it use to be. you would still loose most of the time but at least you could play a full night before it was all gave back. Next spring we are going to take a trip to Yreaka and fortuna taking 36. Thats if the bike is fixed by then I am having riders withdrawl LOL.
