| I'm keeping an eye on this thread so I know how to find you guys if I can get my bike in the right shape to go.
I might try that Mt. View Campground in Spearfish this year for something different. I usually stay at Hg Heaven it's got nice new facilities but I may opt for somewhere I can actually sleep at night if you know what I mean
There are a lot of rides around Sturgis that take a day each. I'll list them just for fun.
1. Bad Lands - one long day
2. Needles Hwy - one day with Mt Rushmore.
3. Mt Rushmore & Crazy Horse - although I'll bet nothing is new on the Crazy Horse monument. That thing is just too big. I hope I'm wrong.
4. Devils Tower
5. Hewlett Wyo. on Wednesday (pantyless Wednesday) - used to be fun, but, there are too many cops now. Still worth a try.
6. Black Hills - Great on the way in and in the early morning on the way home.
7. Dead Wood - Great town to hang out for a day and rest.
8. Several bars - Full Throttle, I forget the others
Did I miss anything ??
Send me a private message if you don't want to post the actual meeting site.
Thanks,
T |

| This year the wife and I will get to Sturgis friday, 8/3 in the afternoon and leave fri or sat. One of the things we love about Sturgis is we make no plans on where to go or when to do it. Look at the maps and schedule of events each night and then decide where to go. We like the rides about as much as anything. If I can be of any help, just let me know. |

| Well, the big week is slowly getting closer. I am now scheduled to get my 20K service, new front skin, and overall checkup prior to my big ride (dropping of the bike on Friday). DON"T look forward to the bill, but not enuf time/knowledge to do it all myself before departure and need to make sure that I have the best chance of arrival at both ends!. IF everything goes well, I will ride with new paint glowing on the tour pak, and if time/skills allow, tank also! WORST case, I will ride with new paint on the tour pak and change tanks when I get home (tho I REALLY hope not!). |

| I just got an offer from my brother in law......he said his buddy was heading out to Sturgis and had 2 extra spots. I was confused, 2 extra spots I thought, hmmm, could I get the time off. I though for a while, and I actually considered it, until I heard he was trailering all the bikes out there with his motor home. Doesn't sound like a true "biker" outing to me. I think if I ever go, I will ride out there, ON my bike, not in front of it in a cage or motor home. (JMO) I don't think my friends would ever let me live that down. |

I understand if someone has to go a LONG, LONG, LONG way... otherwise, ride the damn thing! |
