Just got back from a convalescent home benefit run, kind of a toy run for old folks confined to the center. Nice to be riding in the dry snow falling, about 31 degrees so not too cold. Finally got the wife to ride with me! Gotta say, riding in light snow is a lot more fun than cold rain.

"Santa" rode his Softail Springer through the home, then let the ladies set on his lap. Sometimes the ladies would get a little fresh with the greybeard...his cheeks get a lot rosier then! The bikers bring things like shawls and throw blankets, portable radios and disposable cameras for the residents to have as Christmas presents. A lot of the folks just don't get visitors, and so it is a huge deal for them. I guess what I'm saying is if your community doesn't do this kind of run, it is worth the effort to start it up, especially if you've got enough of a riding crew to organize such things. It is definitely a run worth going on.

Thought I'd share......now it is off to rum & hot cider to get the feeling back in my face...

those type of runs are a hoot and the older folks love it. our chapter has a "polar bear" run in january, and it always is at the "home" we strip down to "skivies"....ride around a block or two and end up spending the day with them. man it really makes ya feel good inside!!!!

Done that a few times. Rode into Cripple Creek (just west of Colorado Springs) with 6" of fresh snow on the ground and still falling. Had to use my boots like pontoons to get through the intersection. Not that I like doing it though..sometimes it just happens, and that was in June!

Great run there Red Rider..shawls, blankets and such are great items for the ederly and lets em know they mean something.

gonna have to have thunder mountain install tire chains abby, you won't make it up the hill with out them.

that's sound's like a real good runto make , we used to load all the kid's every couple of week's & go the nursing home where My mother-in-law stayed , & it's A damn shame to just how many older folk's family's just don't find the time to vist there folkes ,we even would take the family dog & they all seemed to like him & he liked them as well
