OK guys do not shoot me for posting a ride in a cage but it was a daddy and daughters only weekend. Mama was at work.

I took my daughters up to Frankenstein's castle Sunday. This was the most perfect fall day that I have ever seen in Germany. The castle is located in the "Odenwald" or Oden Forest region. CD I do not know if you ever made it over to this area but this was really wonderful.

Shopguy and AFNurse this is a must ride for next year. The castle was closed so me and my kids walked the trail which goes around the castle. It is a 1 mile trail and the forest is truly wonderful. The roads going up to the castle are winding but with a wonderful view around each 90 degree curve.

The way down is even better. A small road covered with trees. The only MAJOR curves are at the bottom. It is simply beautiful. The girls had a great time there as well. I am looking forward to heading back up there with them mid November. The Halloween parties will be over by then and the castle will be once again opened to the General public. I have heard that you have one of the best views around from the top of the one tower.

I actually even took the long way home with the car. We just enjoyed the trip and believe it or not no one was getting upset. The Odenwald region is simply wonderful and once again I have never, ever seen such a beautiful fall day. I will admit to being very jealous of all the guys out on the bikes riding around that area while I was in my car. But hey I had my girls.

DEFINITE Riding area for next year!!!!

I haven't made it up to that castle yet, but I must agree you. This weekend was one of the best I have seen yet. The Temp was perfect and the sun was shining. We had to go to Bitburg to do our weekly shopping on Saturday. I had the wife take the car and I took the bike with my daughter. I imagine we won't see anymore days like that this year. That just means its almost time to have the stainless steel spokes installed and have the lower forks chromed
Merry Christmas to ME

Hey shopguy. I took a 5 day weekend this past weekend due to wifes schedule and German schools fall vacation. I was out with the kids almost every day. My daughter is a figure skater and this is her first big year for training. (She has training EVERY DAY, except on the weekends) On Monday I did the same thing you did. My wife took the minivan with kids and I took the bike to the ice rink. We have to drive literally from one side of Frankfurt to the other. I gave her a 10 minute or so head start on the way back and still beat her home. I started to worry a bit while driving alone the banks of the Main river until I got to the one traffic light. There she was sitting up front on the light. I whipped around the corner and put myself right up in front of her. That is a 25 minute drive from ice rink to home in a cage. I gave her a roughly 10 minute head start and still caught her at about half way. Sportsters are freaking great in city traffic. hehehe

But seriously I have never had such a great fall day as on Sunday here in Germany. Today is not too bad either. I left home on the bike with about 48 degrees but the drive home should be even nicer. The Frankenstein Castle in Odenwald is a must see for you. Like I said as of mid November it is open again to the general public. Right now they have it closed off due to the Halloween season.

Just the housing BX and Commisary are still there. The rest of the base has been turned over. Some of the old aircraft shelters have been modified by the new owners, pretty interesting. There are also a couple of gokart tracks in the old area.

Yea that castle sounds like a must see. I kow my wife wants to get over to the Cinderella castle one day too. The weather here today was GLOOMY at best. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but don't expect anymore decent days.

Thumbs down

Alright guys, this isn't funny....I had the great weekend either builiding med-evac missions going to the states or launching the same......Either way, I spent NO time riding, NO time driving a cage, No time outside (except to load an aircraft with patients returning to the states)......ENUF!! I am already sick that the weekend passed me by!! What do you think the chances of this NEXT weekend being ok??!! Not so great by my guess! Will be looking for that ride next spring!! also looking at a possible Harley Fun n Sun 25-29 May 05 in Monte Gordo, Portugal!

Cool

quit pouting.

by the way chances of having another fall day to match that one in Germany, well the odds are at least 1.620 to 1. I have been here at least 18 years, let us say that fall is roughly 3 months long or (roughly) 90 days. Multiply 90 x 18 and you get 1.620 days and this is the first one I have ever seen like this. This of course is give or take a day or two.

So yes, you missed one hell of a day!!!

Sorry did I rub that in
