Stage 1 exhaust ?
Mar 19, 2010 - 5:47 AM - by tomcat
hello,

Just purchased the stage 1 kit. What is considered stage 1 exhaust? I have the stock a/c and the stock exhaust but it is drilled. I am considering installing the 46 pilot and the 190 jet with the mentioned set up. Will that do, or should I go to a 195 main? Is the drilled stock exhaust considered (free breathing)? I do plan in the near future to put the big sucker a/c set up on which I would then go to the 48 pilot, but what main would it need with the drilled stock pipes?

Also, in the very distant future I plan on going with a big sucker a/c and the samson true duels with baffles. Is that considered stage 1 exhaust (free breathing)? And... [Read More]

Idle Jet Question
Mar 16, 2010 - 8:15 PM - by EglideRide
I purchased an 02 Electa Glide Standard TC88 with factory intake and exhaust in Dec '09. I was having a lot of coughing through the carb from day one. After reading the incredibly informative HP website I purchased the deluxe stage 1 kit. My carb had a #45 idle and a #190 main jet.

The Kit is installed. Now the idle jet is #46 and the main is #190. The EZ is now set at 3 1/2 turns from seat. The bike runs smooth without coughing. The plugs have been changed and will be checked tomorrow. The carb doesn't appear to be running lean anymore. It is defiantly not running rich.

I have three questions.

1. Since the EZ is out 3 1/2 should I install a... [Read More]

CVP emulsion tube
Mar 05, 2010 - 4:41 PM - by motorcycle czar
I'm curious on how the CVP emulsion tube affects WOT AFR. I've got a couple of CV44 carbs, and both are showing a rich dip in AFR between 3k-4k which is affecting the torque line. I'm thinking that a different emulsion tube, or a modified emulsion tube should reduce the dip. It's a carb, so I know it's not going to be perfect but any little bit will improve the torque in that area. How does the CVP emulsion tube affect WOT opposed to the stock emulsion tube? does anyone have any WOT afr charts using the CVP emulsion tube that they can post?
