As you know I installed the Barnett Scorpion clutch on my 107 build.
I heard a clanking sound coming from the primary. Drained the oil and pulled the primary.
With the outer primary cover off I pulled the spark plug wires. Turned the bike over. No sound.
Put the spark plug wires on and cranked the bike. No noise from the compensator sprocket.
No noise from the Hayden BT 107 tensioner.
The noise is coming from the clutch basket.
You can grab the adjustment nut and turn it while its tight. The clutch pack moves back and forth. The tabs on the clutch plates bump either side of the clutch basket.
Took a Dial caliper and measured the ole locking tabs on the clutch plates and measured the locking tabs on the barnett clutch plates. They are the same.
Called Barnett Tech support and told them about the noise and you could move the clutch plates back and forth.
    Thouhtht this was the noise.
They said I had left the diaphragm style spring. And got to their style pressure plate and they said it was normal.
It kinda sounds like it slaps in the clutch basket on crackup.

Does anybody know anything about this.

    Thanks.

Normal because you used your old pressure plate
I didn't know you used the HD plate on that clutch
thought they had their own with the springs,

Or is it normal regardless of the plate.

My Primo clutch never made a sound...
didn't use the barnett and i've not heard anyone
    say that about it...

Change the spring if it fixes the problem..

I had a clutch hub bearing start to fail that made that clacking noise.

I checked with Tattoo and he knows a guy who installed a Scorpion clutch in his V-twin and it has never made a sound like you describe.

Nope and I was 80 miles from the dealer and the bike was torn down and no way to go get one.
That's what I was saying I probably needed to do.

I changed the Primary Chain compensator too.
This is what the new one looked like at 2000 miles.

Put the stock compensator back in.

You got to realize the new bikes are the ones that has had the compensator issuers. The new bikes are the ones that has the IDS system in them with the rubber isolators.
The new bikes Pulsate when they run.
And they put out more power stock than the older bikes.
think this might be where HD has been making some changes.
The new compensator was build with a lot of oil holes in it so oil can get all over and down into it.
    Hope it holds up.
