    Hi ,,Jerry here.
    As I was saying my bike lost power and my tach was reading 0...I have determined it is not the coils, plugs or wires..My bike is a 1985 Honda Shadow 500.would appreciate any help.thanks

    he seems pretty close to the vest marc. (lol) more info about you and your bike = more help. guess we are crotchety at times. but anyways i will guess you meant second / rear cylinder. is one pipe hot and one cold? do each coils have two primary wires? can you check for power to coils with a multimeter? also with ignition on i will guess that - terminal on coil will have power out indicating continuity of coil. one bad coil will make the cylinder it is on skip= cold pipe on that cylinder, then swap to see if the same cylinder is cold.

    When you say lost power do you mean gauges and lights or everything and engine stopped running, will it start, run?

    Check your grounds, make sure they're clean and tight...if there are breakers in it,they could be getting old too...Do you loose headlights and accessories when you loose power??
