Well, the wife and I are planning a short trip in middle July to early August. Now that I did step one and bought a bagger, I am in need of now equipping it with detachable accessories.

With the back rest that I bought from CB, can I just buy any rack to attach to it? I have my eye on some nice T-Bags and I am considering putting on rear crash bars that would give me some options for storage as well. Thanks.

CB might be the one to answer that better. But, it depends on what brand and type you picked up. I have one that is a quick fit for my Springer and have a bolt on rack to go with it. Mine is from Harley. It was designed to accept a rack to it. T-bags are a great way to go. Good luck with it.

This is where it shines to find a tourpac that somebody took off their bike.
Put a quick release kit on it. And a lugage rack. Then you can git a Tbag horseshoe bag to go on top of it.
Then you got two saddlebags. a tourpack and a horse shoe bag to go on top.

Nothin, I mean nothin replaces a Tourpac, They are worth their weight in gold.
I added this to my last bike, And it has a Tbag horseshoe bag on top

A detach Tour pak is not an option at this point, but at some point it might. Thanks..

HRK, do you have a part number for what it was that you wee talking about? I looked for parts specifically for my bike and I didn't find anything.

A good parts guy at an HD dealer should be able to tell you what you need. Take your back rest in to them and see what they say.

and you pulled a trailer too.

I use a tbag and let it set on the back seat as a back rest. Also have a small leather tour pac type thing that I carry stuff in. We like to travel light and fast and camp at holiday inn or someplace similar. For short trips we just carry a back pack on the sissy bar. I try and keep the weight on the bike not behind the rear wheel.

The OL rides her own and carries a collapsible ice chest with treats and drinks in it.

    Ahhhh
If he puts it on the back seat where is his wife gonna sit ?
And a tourpac is great for a lady to lean against. And it holds a pretty good bit not to mention if you put a luggage rack on it and a tbag.
We stayed gone a week. Took about everything.

There are different backrests just pop up to dealer
and they can tell you which one fits. Mine was on a softail
so it wouldn't work on your bagger..

    here is one

As small as that luggage rack is you beg to tote much.
While yer at the dealer. Just go open a tourpac and look inside.
Then make sure one has the rack on it like the limited that is a full tourpac rack
Now think how much you can tote.

HD sells a suit case set drops right in the saddle bags , about $40-45 , roll your cloths & they hold alot , A sporting goods store should have a water proof bag in the hunting section $5-$10 & it will hold a lot & strap it to the new rack :D

Thank You gentleman for the suggestions. The wife and I are looking to take a trip this summer after we get back from Florida. She won't be taking the Sportster as we will be riding 2 up. We are looking to ride through South Dakota, into Wyoming a little ways, then head south to Denver as I have a cousin down there that I would like to see. From Denver we would head back up to Minnesota. All in all we are looking at about a 2000 mile trip. I will need some good solid luggage for the trip. Not sure but we are contemplating being gone about just over a week. :D

That's a ram mount with all the bits

Compare prices and put together what you need, clip for GPS, Ball, Arm, Base mount

You will whatever you need at GPS City great prices too.

If you don't want to put a clamp on your bars there are alternative
mount points I use this one vs the clamp on the bar so it won't mar the chrome
finish, and it gives me two mounting points,

    2 ball Ram mount

This mounts up to the control C clamp, replaces stock HD screws with
longer allens, so it's right at your fingers and it's easy to move

Note, use the shorter 3 inch or 1 inch arm, longer arms can transfer vibration
so cameras are not as good, I run a Valentine one up top and a GPS
on the bottom on longer trips, or you can put on a big gulp cup holder on the side and a GPS on top.

Now the way the "kool RG Guys" are doing it is with Iron Aces Mount.

Go to the link at the bottom for eye phone/gee pee ess mount

You pull out the little metal HD logo above the speedo/tach, drill two holes
and mount the billet mount, order the correct holder from Ram for whatever
you want to connect and bam - GPS right in front, out of the weather
    and easy to see.

Most put in an Eye Phone holder (or droid) and wire in the iphone to the back
of the radio by putting in a rear aux jack, that way the phone can play pandora
or ipod songs, and charge while you ride.. Had that on my oh niner..
