I have a 2002 Harley FLSTFI Fat Boy with Dunlop tires a D401 150\80\H16 on the rear and a D402 MT90B16 on the front. I'm Looking at the new Michelin - Commander II Cruiser Rear Tire Size - 150/80-16. And the Michelin - Commander II Cruiser Front Tire Size - 130/90-16. Will these work out OK on my bike? Reviews on Motorcycle Superstore site say the ride and handle well and they get double the miles of Dunlop or Metzler.

I've heard good things about the Michelens. I personally don't like the Metz had a real bad experience with em once and never put on another set. Rear tire with less than 4,000 miles on it came apart on me and shredded. Darn near crashed as I was in a sweeping corner in CA on Hwy 101. Been running Dunlop every sense then.
I ran the Elite tires on it after that.

The Dunlop Elite series lasted much longer than the stock Dunlop tire. Added load carring capacity on the bike to. With the new bike I think for now I'm stuck with stock. Course I got really great mileage out of the last one, right at 15,000

After only getting 6,000 miles on my rear Metzler I pulled them both and installed the new Michelin Commander ll's. I really like the way they handle and also the way they look (great tread pattern with good looking side walls). When I installed the tires I pulled the lead balance weights off and installed the Dyna Beads in both tires (Great Balance front and rear). The ride is the best I've ever had on my 03' Electra Glide Classic. I hope they live up to the double the miles claim !
I would tell you more but it's time to ride !!!!!!!!

I ordered the Mich's from Motorcycle surerstore. Their sale price was lower then the sales on the others and I kinda liked the look. I'll let ya know if they last any longer. I do ride irt really hard for a cruiser. We'll see.

    Hi Fat Boy,
Thanks for the tip but, the order is already in.
I looked anyway and, here is what I found out.
Dennis Kirk's Dunlop is $15 more. Their Michelin is the same $. Motorcycle Surerstore also has free shipping and, super fast. Last time was on the doorstep 2nd day after ordering. I will bookmark Kirk's site for future comparative shopping though.

    P.S.
    Nice ride Bro.

:roflmao:Dave, when your rear tire spins about 4x's faster than your front,I think all mileage claims go out the window;)

I've got about 100 miles on a set of Commander II's. They ride very smooth and seem to grip well. But, waiting to wear the nubbies off before I get rowdy with 'em.

    And no....the front ain't on backwards!! :D

How wide kinda depends on if you just wanna go til sumthin' rubs then go 1 size lower or, if you wanna do some customizing to make the width you want fit it. IE: I spaced my axle, changed all the fender mounting hardware Bolts goig out ward from the inside with acorn nuts on the outside of the fender brace and a modified brake caliper to go up from a MT90B16 (which in Dunlop language means a 130). I was able to go to a 150 width. That's as wide as my fender could possibly take on the 2002 Fat boy. Wouldn't ya know that the very next year (the 2003 model) came stock with a 150 series rear tire. Don't the '08's come with a 180? Might depend too if your Ultra is an Electra Glide Ultra Classic or a Road Glide Ultra, a CVO, or a Screamin' Eagle. ???

Oh yeah.... Lucifer, I really don't know if I'll ever get too good life outta my rear no matter what make. The bike only has 35,000 miles on it now and the 14th rear is bald while I'm only just breakin' in the 3rd front tire.:D Nobody ever said havin' that much fun was cheap.

    Chucktx heard the noise.
I was going on a trip and didn't want to hear it. And the temps was gonna be 100 and warmer on the edge of the desert.
