I would look for a LED light that you can attach to the bike. It will be brighter and much lighter. Google LED bicycle headlights

there are some small batteries that are 12V, you could make a bracket, they are lightweight, you can hold easily in one hand, I'd run a wire up to a relay that is
activated by a switch, doing this prevents the 12v from burning out your switch

    here are some on Amazon,

    http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_n...n battery&ie=UTF8&qid=1450327359&rnid=3760931

I would suggest you get a rechargeable battery because you have no way to keep
it charged when running, once home, plug it into the wall.

you might also consider finding an LED bulb because it will use less power than a normal 12 v bulb

With all the good cycling lighting systems on the market, suprised you would take the time to retrofit a heavier system onto your bike. LED cycle lights are inexpensive, draw almost no power, and are light to carry with you on your bike. They are quite a bit better than lighting systems of a few years ago.

    LiPo model aircraft type battery.

Come in hundreds of different sizes and capacities.
Best place to look for them is Hobby King./

For 12 volts you will need a 3 series battery pack, as each cell is 4.2 volts maximum. Ideally do not drain below 3.0 volts per cell. even better to keep them up to about 3.5 volts per cell.

What sort of current are you going to draw? and what time span?

If your turn signal flasher can take it, you could go up to 4 series but that is then up to 16.8 volts.

    For example
    http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=20845

A pair of those wired in parallel (positive to positive, negative to negative) would give you a pack of 16 Ah. so if you were drawing 16 amps, that would last one hour...or 1 amp 16 hours...I am sure you get the picture.

Really world figures would mean that you would get a bit less than that, but that is about it.

If you look at those packs you will see there is also a set of small wires with a JST -XH connector. Ideally you would parallel those too,

Charging then becomes an issue...you need a balance charger.

Again , the site has hundreds of chargers...from small ones that will be ok for overnight recharging g..to bigger powerful ones that will charge at 2000W and one hour or less.

Something like this is an option

    http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/..._AC_DC_Charger_5A_50W_With_US_Plug_Copy_.html

But we aware...lipo can be dangerous.....if not treated with respect. DO NOT LET cells drop below say 2 volts and then re charge them..well you can but be vigilant...
The packs can go out of balance...so of your 3 cells in series, one cell may eventually go down to zero volts...but if you are not charging using the balance charge function..then you are now putting g12 volts across 2 cells, not three...so your 'good ' cells will be taken up to 6 volts each..and then likely puff up , burst and emit flames..

    Search YouTube for LiPo fire.

    any way.

ask more about it if you need help

just let me know likely max mum current draw, and run time you would like
