Today my knee felt good enough to start my project. I'm installing the Progressive monotubes and chrome fork sliders on my '05 Fatboy. I was only able to work for 2 hours at a snails pace being careful of my new bionic knee. I dropped on fork tube from the bike and disassembled it. Cleaned up the parts that get re-used and assembled it with the monotube and chrome slider.

Assembled tube. I still have to set the new fork seal. I ran out of gas at this point.

Do you have one of those small roll around shop chairs. I love mine when working on the bike.

But then his knee is bent. That's when mine bugs me most.

Yep I have a roll around adjustable height Craftsman stool . Bike up about 18" off floor on hydraulic lift Knee gets bent but it's one of the exercises I have to do to stretch out my quad anyway. But my general endurance is way down due to inactivity since surgery on Sept 30.

Thanks. The physical therapist says I'm way ahead of average on the heal time. Nights are the worse. Trying to find a comfortable position for more than 5 mins seems impossible.

Only on Bike Talk LOL. Fatboy, it's great to hear your new bionic knee is healing quickly and that you feel up to working on your bike. Gotta get me one of those roll around shop stools!

Josh, I really love my roll around stool especially when cleaning the bike. Either that or find a pedestal that you could put the bike on that spins but think a shop stool on wheels is the easiest.

Here is mine a Mac tools stool

Harbor freight has one but with a round seat. Sears has one too. I have the Sears one that has an adjustable height seat.

Harbor Freight is good but then your buying Chinese but then Sears is probably made in China as well.

Made my own, had a few HD Cop seats from RK's, took the top off some office chairs and bolted the HD seat to the top, very comfortable.

I would have thought you would need something a bit broader

I don't have the raw materials to make my own, so I will get one off FleaBay. They have an adjustable Sears one for under $30. Looks like a knee and a back saver.

Feeling a bit better today I went back to my fork project I started last week. I got both forks completed today with the upgrade to chrome lower fork sliders and modifying the suspension with the Progressive Monotubes. Since I'm still only 4 weeks from my total left knee replacement I only test road around the block. The spongy front forks are gone. The suspension is quite a bit more rigid. Also, the front end if the bike is also higher. The bike definitely feels more responsive. The extra ground clearance is welcome since I tend to drag my floorboards often. In a few weeks I should be able to get in a longer ride.
The project was easy and if your at all handy you can do it.
