Well boys I do believe I am done for the season. Yesterday I was out on a bike run and towards the end of the run my bike started making noises that scared me to death. I am thinking that it is coming from either the cam chest or the crank. When I say cam chest, I am thinking gear drives. I won't get to taking it apart tomorrow but will get started on it this week. I have as nasty feeling this won't be good. THIS SUCKS!

It does suck. I had good oil pressure and it wasn't getting hot and wasn't valve noise either. I am PISSED!

Pull both covers primary and cam .and see what is loose .go from there ya never know might be something simple like splines gone on the rotor loose comp maybe the crank bolt came loose on the gear drives from rotating the motor during valve seal replacement. Never know .

Yeah that is optimistic and hope that it is that simple. Sucks though, I have to take the font pipe off to get at the cam cover.

True, but it was my first real attempt to join or partipate in non HOG sanctioned runs. Just embarrassed mainly.

Happened to me once. Was living in providence,ri and about 20 of us rode to the keene swap meet. I bent an exhaust valve, limped to keene on one cylinder and rode in the back of a truck home...sh*t happens. Its all part of the deal. Gaining experience bro and memories.

Nothing more embarrassing than to have to drop your bike off before the after party. People asking why I didn't have my bike. Then having to tell them.

Maybe what pisses me off the most is that I went ahead and got my EFI stuff thinking that the engine was good yet. Grrr.

Man I sure hope so. Just wanted to say that the clutch worked great. Drivability wasn't bad. Just made terrible noises.

Have a listen first...Use a stethoscope or something to try to isolate which side the noise is coming from...No sense going through the PIA of getting the exhaust and cam cover off to find out the noise is coming from the primary side...
Good luck JB....hope it's something simple

Well, even if it is terminal for that motor you could always find a used one (motor, not bike!) to finish out the summer on. Then it would already be out and on the bench to build on rainy days and you'd still be riding. Sell the spare when the good one is done.
