Since wife can't ride drove up to down-east Maine. That's after a 1.5 hour ferry ride across Long Island sound / Atlantic . Freakjng I495 that goes around Boston ( avoiding the city itself) was a Effin parking lot. Massachusetts drivers are the worst also. Yes, worse than NY.

Try to get thru there before 2pm or it will be a parking lot. I travel the shit stretch to often when visiting my mother who lives in northwest rhode island.

    No other direct way.

You can take 395n off of I-95 in CT up to and thru to I-290 in worcester, mass which dumps you on 495n avoiding alot of other traffic. Check it out.

That's what we did. New London ferry, 395 north to 290 to 495 to 95. 495 was screwed at 11am

BD, I'm so happy I live where I do. I can leave my house, ride up over MT Hood in some of the countries most beautiful areas. Then travel down to LaPine in central Oregon to visit my mother 200 plus miles away and never ride on freeway. Here are a few of the views we get to enjoy.

I'm heading over there this weekend for an overnight with a group of others, great motorcycle roads.

Have fun...Stop in at Mabel's Lobster Claw on Ocean Ave. in K Port if it is still there...Also use to go to Arundals Warf if that is still there...Saw on TV a few weeks ago that there is a place just off the bridge at the top of the river that has great lobster rolls...

Thanks but unfortunately I'm what's called a fake fisherman. I don't eat seafood. I give fish a near death experience and release em. Also I'm Deathly allergic to shellfish like shrimp, lobster etc. But if I see those places still do exist I'll let you know. Wife might want a great lobster roll though.

Holy Canuck Batman! The place we're staying has nothing but Quebec tags on the cages. Did I cross the border? Did we sell Maine ? Isn't there nice vacation spots in Quebec? And NO I'm not learning French to appease these people.

New England has many beautiful roads to travel without getting on interstates. Certainly our mountains aren't as dramatic as yours but beautiful anyway. Wife and I had to make time in order to catch up with my son and his family in order to help unload about 3 tons of household stuff when they arrived from AZ. We got here about an hour apart!

Yep, I keep hoping they'll separate and join you guys and stop sucking my tax dollars with their demands, but they are still here. And apparently there. My deepest sympathies.

Living high in the north east corridor its a dog fight to get out. To crowded. To much urban compact like a mother. People drive like f'ing aholes. When i'm coming home from visiting family in Rhode Island (another parking lot) i don't relax till i hit I-89 north.
