Had one for several years been pretty good
but with all the use it's had a lot of oil, heat,
    god knows what on it.

The rubber pads have split and come loose
and putting a bike on metal doesn't work well.

I could indoor outdoor but that's slippery.

Used some carpet (auto style) glue and
    that didn't work.

In the heat the glue got slippery and
bike wanted to slide off the jack.

So I need some ideas on what kind of
adhesive to get to get these rubber
    parts back on.

Friggin Sears doesn't make any replacement parts..

Bottle jack also gets jumpy on the way down
so I need to probably take it out, bleed, fill,

This winter for the first time it wouldn't lift
up off the locks until I heated the jack...

Either that or I have a $79 coupon and can
get a new harbor freight one....

I use the 3M spray glues quite a bit in my business for rubber, seems to work o.k. make sure you get all the oil off the metal, maybe use some contact cleaner or alcohal to prep the surface. Also you can probably get some rubber sheet material cut to size if you have a local gasket company. We also use a rubertex adhesive to attach rubber based insulation to copper lines, not sure what the official name is, call your local a/c parts house. If you use that put glue on metal and rubber and let it dry some before sticking together, kinda like contact cement(which might work also):D

Liquid Nails adhesive for a caulking gun does work great, and is permanent. Try some old rubber garden hose.

Hotroadking, I just bought that lift from Harbor Freight for $59. A little assembly time, and it works great. I put "Never Sieze" grease on all the pivot points first. Neat thing about this lift is it has 2 speeds lowering, and I can roll my lifted bike around the garage for easy parking and service. Money well spent.

They have a new aluminum version, but it's twice the money, and who cares how light it is anyway.

Liquid nails does work great for anything. Clamp it under pressure. Problem with gorilla glue is that it expands and looks like globs of baby puke when it squeezes out.

HRK, I have the harbor freight version and for the price it works great, I never have been able to get the 2 speed lowering to work, always comes own quick even when I shove the pedal all the way like instructions say. Just make sure the jiffy stands out, handlebars to the left, and be ready. Been using it about a year and it still spooks me when I let it down:eek:

I know this sounds stupid, but you have to stomp on the release pedal hard to make it go down slow. That's the way they designed it, but it does work great. The thing must weigh 45 lbs. and shipping was only $8.

HRK, that looks identical to Harbor Freight's lift, except mine is painted Caterpillar yellow.

i have found that when using the 3m, it doesnt hold well because of the movment of the bike on the pads......held maybe a couple of weeks then turned loose.......

Had a buddy of mine make me a center stand kind of thing once. Still have it, works great,,,but,,,, can't get any rubber to stick to it because of the when ya raise the bike up on it, it come's up at a angle beneath the frame until it's up so it pulls on the resting place of the stand until it's up. To this day I'm havin problems with it :banghead: :gah: Let me know what you come up with.

When putting together remember never force a dirty dry bolt in a hole

Clean your bolt first then properly lube before inserting in hole

If you do not clean and lube you will just irritate the hole and the bolt won't go in easy.

A properly lubed bolt works best
