Are there any pipes that could still give the look of some short laf pipes like these?

I like the look of drags but that's about the only thing I like about them. I currently have screamin eagle slip ons on the stock headers

The name of these pipes say it all. LAF= Loud As Fu¢₭

If loudness and looks are what you are after then go for it. Otherwise be prepared for poor performance down low, rough idle, and some really harsh deceleration crackle when you let off the throttle.

Look over the Paughco website. I have a set of Paughco 38" drags on my shovel that I shortened even further, to about 32". Yup, they are loud and crackle on decel. Perfect! If I lost any power shortening them, I can't detect it. 013 (640x480).jpg

I put the paughco slash cut drag pipes on my WG and they have been good to me. Good sound with a classic look. One of them blew a hole on the bend and paughco replaced it free. Great company that stands behind Thier products.

However, I would still go with baffles. The deceleration popping sucks. You can cut the baffles and still get the good sound. With the short pipes I would also worry about burning a valve... never had that happen but have had folks mention it enough to consider.

Never burnt a valve either. I am going to put some 4" baffles in my pipes soon, just for a little back pressure. I don't think they will affect the sound very much :) . . .
