I have a high compression motor. I put a large amount of sta bill into the gas tank on top of octane boost that was in the tank mixed already with 91 octane premium fuel. Started bike up 3 or 4 times during cold winter months. ( bike was not rode for the past 5 1/2 months. I started the bike up today and rode it low speed for approx 1 mile. I hear a chatter type noise around the cam and breather area particular at idle. Is it possible that the gas is flat also take into account the fuel mixtures that could be the cause of the noise that sound ünusual" at idle. When I rev up a bit the chatter type noise appears to go away. The tank is 1/2 full. Should I dump the old fuel or just ride it out to see if that is the cause?

If you put in a significantly different amount of Sta-bil than recommended, then I definitely recommend a dump and refill. If that doesn't work, let us know and, with your next post, tell us the make/model/year of the bike, including whether it is EFI or not...helps a bunch.

I have a 2011 street glide, 117 build. I had not rode the bike for nearly 6 months. started up today rode interstate After 5-10 miles or so bike seemed to wake up. Rode for 50 miles, no problems. refilled with fresh gas. The bike is running good. I think I may have been a little apprehensive about not hearing the cams for the past 6 months. Had just finished with the build and break-n before storing it for what was supposed to be winter.

better to be aware than an idiot that rides till it,s all fudgeg up. My personal opinion is let a motor rest and not run, rotate it to relieve valve springs if you feel that you must. Short run and no ride = condensation and bad shtuff

And when and if you do drain and clean think about using another fuel stabilizer like sea foam or star tron. I use star tron and you don't have to worry about over toxifying with it.

I've over used stabil and it gunked out on me. So i don't use it anymore.

We all try to out think what the label says more is gooder (LOL) . Sounds like a bad mix, drain and refill. I do not put anything in the scooter all year long, just try to find non ethanol fuel, no battery tender, and leave it alone till I can ride again. Am able to keep scooter in a somewhat stable storage area. Works for me.
