From what I've read so far that Harley starting making new CV Carbs in 1986.

    I've got a '85 1340cc Classic.

    Questions Please

    1. Would it be very hard to make the change from my ol' butterfly carburetor ?
    2. What install adjustment have to be made ?
Lastly, where can I buy a new CV Carb. for my application ?

    Thanks brothers

    Try EBAY,
You'll also need an intake manifold, I have a manifold and a carb out in the parts shed, I'll look at them tonight when I get home, $50.00 plus shipping. Don't remember if I have the rubber boots but you would want new ones any way. Cables should work just fine. I also have a SE air filter system for an EVO if your interested.

If I remember correctly 1990 was the first year for CV's on Big Twins, Sporty's had a CV without the accelerator pump on them around '88 or '89.
Any year CV carb will work, altho the later TC ones don't have an overflow tube on the float bowl. Minor changes in them over the years but any one will work

Not a difficult upgrade...well worth the effort...only problem would be finding an air cleaner for bottom breathing Evo's...

You'll need throttle cables(90-95) a 3 piece CV manifold (manifold and flanges) and a CV air cleaner assembly and the carb.
You'll have to make up or find a bracket to mount the enrichener cable.

Ebay would be a place to find a used CV and manifold, a new carb would be kinda expensive.

I may still have the stock breather and manifold from my '90 softail laying around...I'd have to do a little search for them and not 100% sure I still have them, prolly easier for you if you could find them on Ebay since I'm in Canada.

    Hey Chucktx

As I read you are all for supporting our brave men and women in the war. And so I'm I.

However, tell my why you have our American Flag Avatar upsided down ?

I believe the upside down flag is a sign of distress. (pirates, mutiny, coup de etat, etc.)

    Obama, pukeloski, inbReid.....:p

That is a good looking carb but
unless you need an engraved carb top,
polished and the choke mounted to the side

I'd just get a take off, clean it up and
    mount it and ride...

you will need the carb, throttle cable/cables....i run one, but some think ya need two.....manifold/flanges/gaskets....two for the heads and one large o-ring for the intake to carb.....and a support/mount bracket......an aircleaner of your choice.......hope this helps.....and if your mechanically inclined.......should be a piece of cake!!!!!!!!!:)

schooner , post some pictures of the progress
we love to see a work in progress.

You should be able to get the manifold and flanges easy on Ebay
or craigslist. Same for the Carb, a stock cv 40 will work fine.

Same for the cables someones taken the stock stuff
off and put on braided chrome cables....

One nice thing about the one in you picture, the
choke is mounted to the carb, if you have a place
for the choke that is good. on a Stock HD the mount is at the back
of the engine brace on the left side above the horn.

Easy to weld a U shape piece of metal there...
