Will not idle

    installed the kit and bike runs good but will not idle?
    2005 XL1200C stage 1

    if it's the carb kit , just run the idel screw out a bit , you should be able to see it move the plate back a little

    Did you check the Idle Jet hole...........

    Run a tourch tip cleaner threw it. and spray some carb cleaner threw it.
    And look at the float level.

    like cowboy said just turn the idle set screw on the right side of the carb up a little, actually you will turn it in, righty tighty - lefty loosey:D

    If'n he rebuild the carb, he should of checked to see how many turns it took for the screw to bottom out. Then took it out and cleaned that part.
    When he put it back he should of made it so that many turns was backed out.
    It then would of been near where it should be........
    Trash lodges under the needle screw too......

    Not talking about the idle pilot set screw, talking about the screw that adjust the limit rotation on the throttle cable pull bracket. Didn't say he rebuild the carb, said he put the kit in.

    I did rebuild the carb and replaced all three seals on intake
    new kit and put a 48 and 185 jet XL1200C stage 1
    when i adj. the right hand idle screw it will idle ok then the RPM will starte moving down

    Can you see how it s idling down? Is the screw backing it self out or just the cable mount moving back ? I have seen only once where a guy striped the screw & it would slowly back out

    it has a cv performance air needle and long idle screw the slot dose not move
    the two side screw on the bracket are good
    the cables have very little slack

    Does the carb work fine except the Idel ? No carb farts no missing from carb ?

    yes from 1/4 throttle up runs great

    From 1/4 up , sounds like something blocking or the small jet not working right

    the small jet being the #48 i have in the carb.
    i tried a #45 and #46 but it backfired when you accelerated
