hey i just got my first bike bout 4 month ago. it is a 05 herriatge. i put a power commander, a arlinness super sucker and i put in a tube to run from the heads to a filter, and a thunder header. it get lousey gas milage for being fuel injected, but that could be from the way i ride.around 30 mpg. and lately it has been using alot of oil. I did have the oil changed over to synthetic(20-50), but i am wondering if that is common or not. i got about 5000 miles on it and have used 2 quarts of oil since it had 3000 miles on it. i do see that some is comming out of the top when on long rides(cuase it makes a mess on the chrome) but there is no residue on the rear end of the bike like it was burning that much but it has to be going somewhere.. Is this ok or what should i do?

    Normal ?

No it's not right. Seem like a lot of the 05's are having some oil consumption issues. Take it back to the dealer and tell them to fix it.

    Oil use

I agree with Killer-B. It is not normal to go through a quart of oil every 1000 miles, especially where the bike is brand new. The oil all over the chrome is a sure sign of leakage, most likey from the rocker cover boxes. Since it's an 05' it should certainly be covered under warranty. It is not common but also not rare that the gaskets go on a new bike. I've seen it happen twice. Once to a Sportster 1200 and once on a Road King.

    Good Luck.
