has anyone drilled the end caps of the mufflers for better sound, and if so does it harm anything else?

I had the stock mufflers drilled out until I knew what pipes I wanted. They just ran a large drill bit up the tail pipe and they sounded much better. In fact, I liked the sound of them better than what I have now. When that was done, I also installed a high flow air filter and had a new down load to the ECM. It is not advisable to increase the flow in the exhaust without balancing the input.

this is what i have done to mine.......06 eg....k&n airfilter for stock cleaner....6 extra 5/8 holes in back and bottom of aircleaner for more air...jetted the carb...mufflers....remove and drill out inlet end 15/16.......reinstall and start drilling out exhaust end a little at a time....keep checking plugs and milage....i ended up with 5/8 hole in exhaust end....ya got to keep some backpressure for preformance.......your milage may vary....that being said, when i do go with slipons it will be trapps....but this will have to do for now....
