1 3/4" exuast pipe or 2"

    I keep beating up this 2 into 1 pipe thing:banghead:. Super trap. R and B Racing, Pro pipe. Ect... Please correct me if (because) I'm wrong, I've been looking into R And B racing (the Spyder). It's a 2" pipe sounds great and is supposed to be a great pipe, I have a highly modified 113. Which pipe would help with the dreaded pre-ignition ping and all around ride, including rub. Would a 2" pipe be to much exhaust with not enough back pressure? Or would a 1 3/4 pipe be better for my ride. Super trap is coming out with a 2" pipe soon (May) and are very proud of it. They (Super Trap) quoted $1,700 to $1,800 for it. Any suggestions?

    Smaller pipe is usually better all around. Do you spend most time in high rpm ranges? If not, then go with the 1 3/4" pipe. $1800 is a lot of money fer a pipe.

    From everything I have learned, I would stay with the 1 3/4" pipe for the street. JMO

    Your 113" motor can justify going to 2" headers, especially if you did some porting on the heads. But I'd have to be in love with those pipes to spend $1700 for em, and still wouldn't.

    You can find several good brands of 2 into 1 pipes that will really help your motor and cost you less than $800. Samson, Cobra, V&H, D&D, Bub, Rinehart, just to name a few. All have 1 3/4 or 1 7/8" inlet that works fine for even big motors.

    I have a stock 96" with 2 into 1 Rinehart pipes, and these are stepped from 1 7/8" to 2" on the headers, then go up to 4" on the muffler. These pipes really do breath well, but you'll have to get a bigger air filter too to keep the motor from running too lean.

    my chopper with a 111 s-s with head work and comp ran a 1/78 2-1 with good results .but i cant see how to justify 1800 for a pipe you can buy a pro pipe for 700 and its a steped pipe 1/34 to 1/78

    I agree 1,700 is WAY to much for a pipe. I do have C&C heads although they could probably be cleaned up a little by somebody that knows what they are doing. The only thing I don't have done is 10 1/2 to 1 pistons. All because of the dreaded ping,ping,ping. V&H pro-pipe was suggested by a builder and his tuner dude. The rub on them (V&H) isn't (or wasn't the last time I checked) the greatest, but sound great. I used to have A Super Trap that got good results and had decent rub for the twisties. So many choices. Thanks to all for the advice.
