If you’re into big V-Twins, check this out, the Viper motorcycle Company builds bikes with a stock engine that is a 152 cubic inch V-Twin.

    About Viper

They held a race back in 06 at the local AFB called Viper vs. Viper vs. Viper.

Viper Model Mamba - news coverage - Hot Rod's Bike Works

I was there on the flight line and watched it. The race was around 3/4 mile. The bike was at top speed before it reached the half way mark, the car and jet were building speed the whole distance. All three were movin at the finish line. It was impressive.

If you have enough money for one of those bikes you should have enough money to pay for gas.

You would think that at first. I've found out it ain't so.

Obviously I have a much smaller custom engine, but it sure mounts up. It takes at least six or seven bucks just to go joy-riding. If I rode every day at the summer peak just making loops around my house going nowhere, I could spend 150 to 200 dollars on fuel every week.

Now granted, I ride farther on the bigger bike, but I rode the wheels off of the Sportster one week (during a slower speed break-in period on back roads) and spent a biscuit less than 50 bucks. Some days just running errands and going for coffee I spent less than three bucks.

Yes, that "comfort factor" and a smaller tank were the culprits on the Sportster. But I could putz around on the slab with Betty and lose 100 miles just watching the scenery.

I was truly amazed on how the costs spiraled.

Would it be possible to buy one in a crate and fit it into a bagger frame?

I guess I do not care so much about the gas milage, but as someone said, if you are paying 40k for a bike, gas milage is the least of your worries. I thought ot would be cool to go look at one of these because there is a dealer not that far from me, but after reading the article, I am not sure that I am interested in this bike anymore. Check out the story.

Viper has had trouble for the last 4 years. It has been bought at least once since they started. They have been promising production bikes for 3 years and hey have lost major money every year they have been going. since they were a Minnesota company and we make parts for H-D I followed them closely to see if they could be a potential customer but when they struggled to stay afloat we stayed away.

What ever happened to Exile Cycles, they had some sharp looking bikes. Saw the guy a couple times in Sturgis. Can't remember his name.

First of all, it sounds like you did not read the entire article, including the blogs. the company has basically moved to a more socialist state that is willing to subsidize a company a company through many tax payer monies. Just another American company that is struggling that thinks it needs tax payer money to survive.

Second, the move, according to basic opinion, based in the blog comments listed at the end of the article, is that is that they are saying that because of the corporate tax rate difference from state to state, is a huge reason as to why they are moving.

What about the 'partnership" that has announced with AU of Alabama? Socialist or not?

Sorry dude, I am not going to pay that kind of money for a bike that does not had a proven track record of making money, according to this article, it has lost money and is going to continue to do so. Borrowing from you and I is not the answer!!!

I thought we have learned our lesson after the 2 pf the big 3 were begging for money???

No I didn't read all of it. But I know what it is about.
But times are tough. And if yer not willing to offer a company something to stay they are going where somebody is.

Sorry man but I'm from Alabama, grew up there.
KNow a lot about Alabama, got a Son and friends there. Times are hard, if yer taxes are too high companies are gonna move. Harley was just offered a new contract on their tax rate, They was gonna move.
The Union and tax rate a state has is puttin business out of business from what I hear.
The big companies are sayin. If we come to yer state and employee yer people and you want to tax the heck out of us were gonna move the company. Then you have unemployed workers and no tax money from them.

Honda , Hyaundai , cars are built in Alabama. Mercedes trucks are built in Alabama.
And all yer motorcycle companies has a place at Barber Motor Sports, Kawasaki, suzuki,Honda
They test bikes on the race track.
