this is the problem that i am having, i have been having problems with the battery, it would only be strong enough to crank the starter once or twice, if it didn't start, the battery wouldn't have enought to start the bike, and i would have to charge the battery again. i finally got it running, ran it about 80 miles and it started to bogg out and started popping. kept driving it and then it died. i bought a new battery, and it just wont start up now. i was thinking it was the coils but the harley store said that it was prolly the ignition module. any help???

I hate to sound redundant but BUY THE SERVICE MANUAL! It will take you through the steps to test the components and then you will not be doing guess work or relying on the guy at the harley store to make a guess without actually working on your bike. That's a sure fire way to throw parts at a problem that may never get fixed. In order for the bike to run you need fuel/air mixture, compression and a well timed spark of sufficient power to ignite the mixture. The book will tell you how to find out if all of these requirements meet the minimum standards to make the engine fire.

    STOP!!!!!

Let's think about this for a second first. On one hand, you have difficulty starting the bike, on the other, you have CHARGING problems. The starting problems may well be caused by the charging problems. Fix the charging system first. Then, with a fully charged battery you can check out the starter system if there is a problem.

BTW, all bets are off if you have been jumping it with a car battery or really heavy duty charger. Them things can toast an electrical system real quick.
