Can someone give the specifications for valve adjustment on a 2002 FXST TC88? There's a small top end tick and possibly a slight loss of power.

    Tick-Tock

If it is stock there is none as they are hydraulic tappets with non adjustable pushrods. If you have adjustable pushrods then the adjustment method depends on the thread pitch.

Thanks. Would it be normal to have a tick sound in the top end? Several people have said it's nothing to worry about.

For what it's worth, I have a 2001 FXSTS that also has a slight "tick" as you describe it. A local wrench who has some experience tells me this is not anything to worry about unless it gets progressively louder over a very short period. It's been doing it since new and I've had no performance problems in 12,000 miles - no oil usage, smoke, stuttering or decreased performance. Bear in mind this is a stock road bike that does not get abused. Obviously if you ride hard, you may have a different experience.
