Ask if the cam chain tensioners were changed...if not they're due...also there were problems with the 05's with valve seals leaking,I would ask about them too...other than that just usual service stuff...

Don't think I'm gonna do it. The dealer didn't know too much about the bike. thanx for the input.

You could use it as a negotiating tool...wouldn't take them long to check tensioners and valve seals 3 hrs tops(off the showroom floor to back on the floor)...the upgraded seals on the 05's are orange original are black...all they'd have to do is take off front exhaust pipe and floorboard then pop the cam cover and look...valve seals would need the tank and rocker covers off and look...
If they're too lazy to do that, tell them to knock a grand off and take care of it your self...neither are big issues..:)

Your bike and $8900 would be high.

Frankly it sounds like a good deal if it's $8900 less trade, I wouldn't care about the items noted above it's a rare and not fatal issue and easily changed out with about an hours work.

Like HRK said, if it's $8900 less trade, might not be a bad deal. However, with 56K on the bike I would ask if maintenance records are available. Not sure what the bike market is in VA but with the economy the way it is, there are some really good deals out there. JMHO but ya might want to look around a little.

Friend of mine here in Michigan just bought a 06' E-Glide Classic with 5000 miles on it and some extras for $10,000.00. Obviously the guy didn't have time to ride it and decided to sell it.
