I recently bought a 2006 FXSTI. This weekend I bought a aftermarket chrome primary cover and gasket. When I installed the priamry drain plug I put on a new o-ring. This morning I go out to ride and there is a puddle of oil underneath. I tightened up the drain plug a little and the darn thing stripped. I already have contacted theseller and a new one is on the way. I hardly put any torque on it at all!

    Is this a common problem?
Is there a better drain plug out there?
I plan on using thread tape on the new one, but it seems like such a poor design on Harley's side and the makers of the primary cover as well.

I am also looking for a Corbin dual touring seat that will fit it and rigid mount saddle bags if any body is trying to get rid of any.

i dont think it is a common problem. im sure it has happened to other folks. i dont use tape, i use the liquid teflon that plumers use. it comes in a squeeze tube and i dont worry about loose tape finding its way to the internels
