I have a 2006 Road Glide with 3000 miles. When I use the high beams the fuse blows. This only happens when the bike is running. Checked light switch and healight wiring, all seems ok. Anybody else have this problem?

i would recheck the wiring. if it only blows when running, it is probably a wire being vibrated and rubbing to ground.

Have you tried leaving the housing open & starting the bike then hit high beam & see if it works or blows

you have a wire shorting to ground

Do you have the SM with the schematic for wires.

I would open the housing (controls) and try to turn it on as suggested, look for a worn wire,

If not there check under the faring..

I was having the same problem with mine after doing an upgrade to the engine. I had the tank off so after several days of checking wiring that I had not touched, I finally took it to the stealer and it was the wire for the front fender light was shorting out when ever I hit a bump and blew the fuze. Not sure if this is your problem on not.

I had the switch removed from the handlebar, when I turned the handlebars from side to side with the lights on high beam and the motor running the fuse blew, so I would think the short is in the front fork area. Thanks to everyone who tried to help.

Are your wires inside the bars or external.

If internal check where they go into the bars and come out.

I take it if the bike is up on a jack or sitting upright, you replace the fuse turn on and the lights stay on?

If so put in a new 15 amp fuse get a box at harbor freight (cheap)

While not moving the bars do a wiggle test of the switch make sure it's not there.

then slowly turn the bars left, see if it stays on, then slowly turn right

unless it goes out as soon as you move it.

You can remove the outer faring, the steps are in the SM,get one if you don't have one, so you can do it properly.

find the harness and I"ll bet you find a worn wire somewhere up by the frame. Just cover it with tape or, pull out of the connector, slip over some heat shrink, then put back in the connector.

then reroute the wire so it won't do it again as best as possible.
