I just inherited a 2007 Roadking, it was my fathers. This is my 1st harley(i know very lucky), i have owned other bikes but never one this nice. The bike has sat for 7-8 months without a charger on it, so i tried to charge the battery an it took a charge yet when i tried to start the bike the bike did nothing, so does anyone know if i should jus get a new battery an also if it could be the remote sensor on the ignition system any help would be most helpful.

Did you check the cables for corrosion. Not sure how long it may have also set even before that 7-8 month period but a new battery might be a good idea.

Did it come with just a key or a key fob also - it may have a security system on it. I don't what happens with them if they remain totally dead for awhile?

Presume you forms battery. I would take it to auto parts store for load test. If ok get a real good charge on it

Should have fob with key. Check battery in it.

Did you check the kill switch on the handlebars, never overlook the obvious first.

All the above are good idea's, Once you know you have good power to the system. I'd start with the kill switch on handle bars and then the security system, if it won't crank at all I'd suspect one or both of those things. Also if it is in gear it won't start unless you have the clutch pulled in.

    OK couple of questions

    1) when you say nothing do you mean the headlight didn't come on, the dash light didn't light and you don't hear the fuel pump energize, or
    2) when you press the start button nothing happens,

    They are two separate issues.

    1) if nothing lights up then either the battery is dead or
not properly connected, change the battery out.

Look for East-Penn Dekka battery dealer in your area they make HD batteries
and sell them for 20 to 30% less than the dealer, stay away from interstate etc.
you want a gel battery not a lead acid...

    2) if you have lights, camera action, then

    A) Make sure handlebar kill switch is in Run position
    b) battery in FOB is good and that you have the fob with you by the bike)

If you press the start button and get clicks then the battery may not be fully holding a load, if you get nothing, but you have lights then it's possible a security system fault
