Took off from my house in The San Fernando Valley, 5/24 about 8AM.

Rode through to Gallup, N.M. stopping about every 150 miles for fuel and to stretch my legs before getting back on the road.
Overnight in Gallop and then rode on to just a little Southeast of Oklahoma City.
Made about 650 miles a day.
Spent a couple days with family before heading north to a get together with members from another forum in Arkansas City, Kansas, for the weekend and the ride back to OKC on Memorial Day.

Then did a reverse of the trip out. stopped again in Gallup overnight and rode on home.
    Took I-40 in both directions.

Did you see the link to my web album?
I don't take a lot of pictures, mostly of the people I meet and go to see.

questions about the ride on another forum prompted me to extend the tale a bit so I thought I would share it here also.
The trip was uneventful and I'm glad of that. I did have one little twinge of concern, call it a pucker moment, when after stopping for fuel in Kingman, Az. Iwent to lunch at the KFC there.
After my repast I came out and saw a fresh wet dark patch on the asphalt under the front of my bike.
I bent over to inspect it and the motor mount was wet also. I put my finger under the oil filter and there was nothing. I ran it across the motor mount and smelled and it was gas. I had filled the tank with all it would hold and then just moved across the street and parked, about 1/4 cup of fuel leaked out the tank vent and out the hose that used to connect to the vapor canister. Boy was I relieved.
The trip from L.A. to Albuquerque N.M. was not too bad. at least there are grand Vistas filled with canyons and mesas. Once through The mountains east of that Star of New Mexico you come out onto the most boring landscape I have ever encountered. If not for the occasional patch of swampy ground there would be nothing to break the monotony. There weren't even any mountains on the horizon to look at. There was however some very threatening clouds forming ahead and to the south. I could see the rain falling under them but got ahead of them.
I don't get involved in too many conversations with people on the road. Once they realize how hard of hearing I am their interest in talking to me disappears for some reason. One guy in the Golden Corral I stopped in at asked me where I was headed and asked my name, He told me he prayed for travelers on the road and he would ask The Lord to see me safely home. I thanked him for that although I'm a secular humanist. He must have been good at, I made it okay.
At 650 miles a day I was averaging 11 hour of riding every travel day except for the trip to and from Kansas from OKC.

Nice! I like the pictures too. Looks like a fun group of people.

On my first cross-country trip (LOL, I can say "first" now), I was stopped at a rest area in Gary, Indiana. The traffic was awful. A group of Christians wanted to pray for me, and I was more than happy to oblige. I ran into them a couple of days later in South Dakota, and by the end of the trip I was a believer. Who'd a thunk? :roflmao:

Kinda like that bike wash during Sturgis week where the bible thumpers will wash your bike for free if you allow them to pray with you.

Free bike wash!!! Sure.. amen... hallelujah... huh, you missed a spot.:D:D

I know, I'm going to hell.:(
