    That really sucks to hear that and it could have easily been prevented with a working CO detector.
    That's one thing in every home inspection report that I always strongly recommended if there was any fireplace, attached garage or gas appliances. Now it is state law on every home sold. Twins with no parents now, really sucks to hear. :(

    Very good point. When my oldest daughter was about 13, I made our basement into a large den so the girls would have a place to bring friends in our home where we knew supervision would take place. Since that made 3 floors, figured no way to run that off one heat pump. Put ventless propane heater to heat. Immediately put CO detector ... never had an issue, but inexpensive prevention to save the lives of my family if there were an issue.
