Does anyone know of an aftermarket kick start kit for a 5 speed evo? Preferably one that actually works with the stock trans.

It is like you read my mind. I was on the bike yesterday and I was thinking to myself that it would be awesome if I had a tranny that had some different gears in it. I am not sure about the 6th one though?? What is your opinion???

I like my 6 speeds in both bikes once you are up in the higher mph 70 and above 6th gear is nice to lower the rpm and vibrations and help mileage.

Baker makes the best, and they are USA made and ergo eggspensive.

HD makes a 6 speed gearset, not sure if they make one for a sporty....

Best bet on that would be to change out the rear pulley to get a higher (lower numerically) 5th gear, all you need to do is drop 200 to 400 RPM in 5th...

That is what I had seen that the just the sixth gear set would be the best bet. I was also looking at that lighter drum too to cut weight down. Not sure what I want to do just yet, but I would like something for when I am on the freeway. I really do not like 6 gears, I just think it gets to be too much shifting if you are using it all of the time for speeds under 65.

True unless you ride an 09 and up Bagger
HD changed the rear sprocket so it's got a little more
gear (numerically) you can go in at 60 per the HD Manual...

Yes, but that 6th gear that Harley has in them is nothing to brag about. I think that that that gear is way TOO TALL! Stock, with the 6th gear and in 6th, the bike is a slow, heavy pig, you are shifting into 5th a lot anyways!!

Depends on the set up. I can be in 6th running 55 mph uphill, pull out to pass a car, get around them easy and quick. I really like the 6spd. It goes good with New Mexico’s straight, flat, open roads. Of course the 110 cubic inch engine doesn’t hurt either. I wish I would have had a 6spd in my old Evo.

As far as the kick start goes, I have no use for one. If the starter is broke fix it, if it breaks on the road PUSH IT.

Yep, with the new gears and my 106 on the freeway running 70 I am at 3000, just getting on the cam, best hold on as it pulls through 5K.... You'll be over 110.

My 124 is pulling 3.37 primary gears and a .86 6th and I'd be happy to do a roll on with ya at 55 MPH LOL

I took out a 103 CI conversion Street Glide a couple of weeks ago. The dyno chart showed 97 HP and about 104 ft lb of torque at 3500. We were on a busy highway and they let us crack it open. I was at 65, in sixth gear, rolled on hard and I was disappointed like crazy. That bike was still slow.

The fear set that I am looking at from baker from the supplied link, the ratio is .86:1. That is a good ratio, almost exact. On a Sportster, that would be ideal. Especially for mine as I am about to switch my timing curve to reva little faster. :D

you are comparing a 97 hp 900 pound bagger to a 500 pound Sporty....

    not a fair comparison.

Now drop a 124 in that bagger and do the same.....

No, I am saying the stock 6 speed that Harley puts in their bike are piece of shiit for how heavy that bike is and that I was not impressed with the six speed even with a stage 3 conversion.

I agree that if that 6 speed, with the right engine set up in a Sporty would be really nice. I guess as far as 124 goes, that bike better move regardless of what tranny it has. If it doesn't there is something seriously wrong.
