Here in Florida he would have been arrested! You have to have a permit issued by the State which are limited, and only good during season.

In Florida, he would be tried as an adult and given 20 years.

Glad there ain't no gators up here.

Wouldn't matter here if it is on your land or not, they are still protected and they will throw you in jail!
Only the State can issue permits and the gators have to be tagged and sold back to the State . The State sells the meat and hides to approved vendors. Quite a operation they got going on!
They are not on the endangered list anymore, but still on the protected list.
So bottom line is you can only kill a gator if the States makes money off it!
Of course a good number disappear without anybody knowing anything ( Marinated and deep fried is my favorite!)

Yea we hear the game warden say were the intruders on the lakes and everything, that the land and lakes belong to the gators Etc.

There's a lot of gators here, more than you could ever imagine.

We do not see it that the gators have more rights way here where I live.
I understand the gator is protected. But he has to stay away from us.
No law is as valuable as my familys life or other folks rights over animal rights and laws on gators.

Put Gator's on a lake where people live, swim and kids play and tell us who has the most rights.
    Us or the gators.
    Gators are not pets !

My dog is more valuable to me than the gator.

Yes I have kin folks that live in Florida, heard of some of the laws .
And, sorry I do not agree with all of them.
There's a lot of crazy laws on the books.

Y'all are also having a big problem with snakes in Florida too that folks got and turned loose into the wild.

And if a Gator comes on yer proterty and eats yer livestock, the gator has the rights.
    That sounds pretty good.

Some folks here have fences on their property to keep the gators out of their yard to try to protect their dogs.

Can remember when I was a avid bass fisherman, the animal rights advocates had the Manatees in Florida listed as endangered. We even had some of them to swim up from Florida to Texas, they made the TV stations.

The Bass fisherman had a study done on the the Manatees done years ago.

The study showed that there were more manatees now than ever in time.
Then the question come up, then how can they be listed as endangered.:D

Yea and they do, at Penwaugh Marina where folks live and camp out they already got over 30 dogs gone this year.
When they git too large , like over 12' they start scaring folks when they got their kids around the water.

Too far out in the country for those folks to want to come to.
Walley World and Lowes are the 2 biggest stores here besides the grocery stores .
