have a 94 wide glide, 7000 miles. stock evo with slip on harley mufflers, screaming eagle air cleaner, cv carb with dynajet kit that i did this summer. thinking about upgrade this winter on ignition, screaming eagle heads, and cam-andrews ev46. looking for that quality sound. ride the bike around more short distance than long rides. will stock starter be ok ? do not need that bad feeling when you hit the button and look stupid with higher compression thanks again for any input bambidee

do a compression test, pull plugs and air filter.
get a compression tester from an autozone, pep boys

Open throttle 100% and hit the start button let
it rotate over a few times until you get max reading
on both cylinders. If you are under 190 you may be
    ok with stock starter,

when you get over that number you need to consider
having manual compression releases put in the heads.

Compufire also makes a ring gear starter pinion that
is geared to help starters turn over bigger compression engines.

Not sure what you want for compression but I am running 10.5:1 and my stock starter works just fine. If you are looking for an SE ignition, that will be a difficult, if not, many to choose from.
