I check for power at the coil and ohm wires to pickup. I have 12v at coil. I replaced my coil, with a HD coil and it started to heat up. Still no spark. Checked wires to pick up again and I got 12v to base plate that pick up sits on. I assumed that means it shorting to ground???????????????????

if the module is firing the coil . you should have a pulse on the neg side of the coil . take a test light and place probe end on the neg side of coil . and ground the other end . should flash the test light if its able to fire the coil . the rpm sensor is an ac voltage gen . if you dont get an rpm signal you wont fire the coil . set your volt meter to ac voltage back probe your rpm sensor should see some ac current change if not module wont fire coil because of no rpm signal at cranking

What about the fact that the blue wire on the pick up runs 12v to the base plate? That plate is mounted on the engine block isnt that a short?

    Thanx for the responses.....................
