Hey everyone, just bought 1998 harley softail with 1340 evo, the bike runs real strong and will idle after it is warm....but it boggs down when i start off and i have to keep the rpms up high to keep it going, once smoothes out it hauls booty...it has k&n filter and drag pipes....I'm thinking something going on with the carb....maybe mixture or to much fuel dump in the begining....any ideas???? thanks

ok, first off you need some baffles in the pipes....you need some back pressure. drag pipes provide no increase in preformance untill you are wide open throttle, and actually reduce preformance and milage from idle, all the way to wot. make sure the aircleaner is clean. auto parts stores carry the k&n filter recharge kits. get one and follow the directions on the box. all engines need to warm up before ya use them, and the enrichner is designed for this purpose. before ya sink a bunch of money in "stuff" i would adress those two items.....pipes and filter....then see how the bike preforms.....:)

What Chuck said.:D Wide opened drag pipes are the worst performers, especially the long ones.
