    Hello, Fellas,

This is my first Post on your Forum (very nice by the way).

The reason for the Thread Title? Well, I have always wanted a Harley Sturgis and finally found one, but this one is special (at least to me).

It is the first Dyna Glide ever sold, as well as being the first Sturgis sold (yes, it is a '91). I picked it up last Saturday, and it has 5800 original Mles on it. I has been ridden less than 400 Miles since 2000. It was originally purchased by a Harley Dealer who also bought the first Harley Daytona, and still has it. I received all of the original parts (and every Receipt)for the Bike, so it is complete.

The question I have is that when I picked it up, it ran ragged-I could smell old Gas (really old Gas)-I transported it Home (450 Miles), and made a spot for it on Sunday. I will be able to look at it on Saturday and here is the question-I will drain the Gas, pull the petcock and clean the screen, pull the drain screw on the Carb and let the Gas run thru it a bit-anything else? Is it common to have the Carb rebuilt on these for this problem?

Any and all comments will be appreciated!

Old gas is old gas if your new bike has been setting for any length of time it would be best to rebuild the carb & clean as you said & welcome to the site & congrets on the big score

    Congrats on the find:)
Yeah,it would be a good idea to clean up the carb and get a rebuild kit, i would also replace the fuel lines and the crossover line, and keep it original, or at least keep all the original parts.

wow that's cleaner than my 00 heritage did you find it in a vacumn bubble?

I"d do as said, change ALL fluids, primary, engine , tranny any condensation or degredation of the oils needs to be removed.

Also I'd pull the carb, remove the bowl and clean it out, drain any old gas and put in fresh high octaine fuel.

Might need to remove the petcock if it wasn't ridden for years, which it look like it was stored, and check the screen, flush out the tank to remove any sediment or rust that might have accumulated by sitting.

    Nice find.
