    Cole 883,

The stock bore on an 883 is 3". You can go a little past 3.505, this what I have done to mine. Actually, I bought a new set of jugs with the 3.5" bore. This will bring your displacement up to 1200cc. As far as your heads go, that kind of depends on how you want your bike to perform and how much you want to spend. I do not recommend that you have the heads shaven down if plan to completely fo through it and up your compression. The reason for this is because the combustion chamber on stock 883 heads are only 49cc. Shaving those heads down will alter your compression. (I am speaking from my own goof). If you are set on using those heads, I do recommend that you punch the valves out as far as you can go. This will obviously allow your bike to breath better.

What year is your bike? Do you have any pictures???

Amy's ride is awesome as well. I have just been in touch with Amy and Bill about doing some head work to my SE heads. I thought I was going to have a heart attack when he told the price of the work that he would do for the set. No way can you get it done for as cheep and with superior quality.

I am interested to know more about your bike.

Hey johnny thanks for the infomation man i really appreciate it i sent bishop performance an email today, so hopfully they get back to me soon. Well since you helped me out man i will tall you a little bit about my bike! lol :D

My bike is and XLH 883 sportster I bought the bike about 5 years ago when i graduated high school. I Cleaned it up for the most part and but a digital speedo on it and a set of wheel. I also put a set of drag specialtist 2" drag pipes on the bike as well. The bike is like a burgendy red with a black frame and some chrome but not to much. I also put a crane high 4 ignition in it too. When i get ready to pull the bike apart i am going to polish out all the polish alluminum on the bike its been a couple of years since i took the time to do that. I am still doing research to figure out what what the engine is going to be. I just know that i want it to make between 100 hp - 110 hp.

Thanks agin for the infomation. I guess i am going to start look for some good machine shop is my area too. Michigan is a long way from texas but if the machine work is top notch then thats who i wll us.

To make that kind of horsepower you will need to a lot more than boring the jugs and doing some head work. What is your budget for this project?? Here is a picture of my bike before and then after its transformation.

But I have learned alot in the past couple if days and I have a better idea of what I want to build. I attest know how much hp I want to make!! I don't have a budget, i know how much power I want to make and I will take the time and spend the money to get what I want. Really nice bike man!!

There is a company out there that provides jugs that will give you 1340 cc of displacement. Are you interested in that??

Funny how its starts out with folks building engines on their own. Spending money and all and don't consult with a builder 1st.
Kinda like trying to reinvent the wheel.
And ya know the builders have done their time on engines, and in the long run will save you a lot of problems.
Ya can't just start stickin parts together. All of em don't work n harmony and how many times ya gonna want to tear down the engine, and buy gaskets.
Yer Redneck is suppost to be riding.

That is not what is happening at all. If you actually read the thread, he is asking general questions about about where he can start. He has mentioned several times that he is going to be in touch with builders and go from there. Asking people who have done the type of work that he is looking to do is a smart thing to do because when he does talk to builders, he has a good idea if this is what he wants to do.

When I did my engine, I listened to the builders and they gave me bad information. So how is listening to a builder "the golden key to success?"
